.. pretty sure this is the right forum...

Appearently, something on my subscreen has screwed up my quest, it is now imposible to access from either ZQuest or the game player. I have every form of backup for it and I'm 95% sure the quest is as it was, besides the subscreen thing.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

And I know its the subscreen, because ZQuests stops wanting to load it at Custom Subscreen Data in that startup load box.

I've heard of this problem before but I've never heard of a way to fix it, I'm pretty sure you'll just have to use a backup.

But would the backup be screwed too? And on that matter, how the hell do you even use a backup? xD
Edit: Figured it out. *hugs self*
buy yeah, backup is bad as well. maybe somebody could just invent some tool to delete the subscreen from outside of the quest?

Do you have any timed saves from before you started making the subscreen?

I don't think the actualy problem is to do with the subscreen, it's just a ZC bug and picks up on the subscreen for some reason.
However, this problem is less fatal then the 'reading header error' problem I think, and I've heard that if you pm a corrupted quest to a dev, they might be able to fix it.

Well, I was messing with the subscreen quite a bit before this happened.
Hopefully they can fix it, because there's no way I'm restarting.

I've actually found a way to counter the occurence of bugs that corrupt your quest beyond retrieval though in your case it unfortunately might be too late. The best way to safeguard your quest I've found is to export your tiles, palette, and combo list instead of saving backup files since often it seems those somehow get corrupted as well. This way you can simply open a fresh file in the event of a corruption of your quest, then import your tiles, palette, and combo list into that new file and though you might have to reassign tiles for sprites, Link, and reset things like your rules, this is nowhere as time consuming as rebuilding your tiles and combos from scratch.....

I could care less about my combos and stuff, I had a lot of work with the actual game started though.

Really what I've learned from this is to backup your maps.

Anyway, I don't care if it might be too late, I'll try anything at this point.
