So, after having been stymied for practically forever; I finally started making progress a short time ago.
The inspiration for this was a series of sprites which were Zelda 2 NPCs in a Zelda 1 style.
That got me thinking.
I had never seen the Zelda 2 overworld redone in a different tileset.
A lot of liberties have been taken with the interpretation, but I finished and got most of what I wanted done in a satisfying way.
Here's the world map.

Dungeons will be split up between the eight main characters.
There's also going to be eight mini-dungeons, eight optional bosses and eight required bosses for getting keys for entering the dungeons.
Work on these will begin shortly.
