I'd like to make a super special, important announcement! (Gasp!)
After a long delay, 4 years after the first Map of the Month and 3 years since the last MotY contest, Map of the Years is going to be started soon! It will include maps from 2009 all the way through to 2012. Since it covers such a long span of time, I think it'll be interesting not only to see which map will win the whole thing, but also to have a retrospective on how map design has evolved and changed over the years.
Map of the Years will begin on Wednesday, May 23, concurrently with May's Map of the Month. The bracket will consist of MotMs from MotM 13 to MotM 27.
(I'd intended for it to start on either May 3, which was the date of the previous MotY, or May 5, which is the date that MotM as a contest started, but I had to clear the idea with Robin first and I didn't want it to overshadow April's Map of the Month. By the way, go vote in it and maybe comment on it if you'd like!)
Also, we currently have 2 maps for MotM. You know the drill: First one to submit a third map to MotM gets a flamingo. Also, the contest will start. But you knew that, right?
Map of the Years is coming!

Exciting! I'm in total disbelief that it's been four years since the first Map of the Month. Having a big retrospective contest will be a great way to honor such an achievement.

Wow, three years of maps in one contest. This ought be interesting.
Also where's my flamingo? I was promised a flamingo.

This has been rectified. Thank you for submitting a MotM map.
(I'm serious, you have no idea how much I appreciate the people who continue to support this )
