OK, somewhere I go to (tutor) there is a group of kids (Three guys) who think they are cool, and they mix japanesewith english language.
I mean, IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE!
You do not say, "Haha, you're such a baka" It just sounds wrong, it doesn't even fit with our language.
They even say it to the teacher, though the teacher doesn't care.

They also try to hang around the girls, but I know they girls don't like it.
I mean, why mix languages?
Looks, this is what they usually say,
"Oh my god that is soo sigoi!"
"Haha, you Baka!"
"Nani?" <(Well, this is normal, but IT DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT WHEN THEY SAY IT!)
"Sensei!" <(this, gets, on, my, NERVES! Sometimes.)

Well, that's only some.
They say they know 100 japanese words, yet I only hear at least 10 of them I know fifty and I can list all of them, but I DO NOT MIX IT WITH THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

Why do "some" people mix japanese with english? I doesn't sound right! I mean, what is you're opinion when you hear people mix languages? What do you feel? Angry? Well, maybe not angry, but you know. I feel really frustrated for some reason.

though I love anime, I love japanese, I plan to work in japan, BUT I NEVER mix languages.

PS: They love anime, they talk about Naruto (omg), Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Alchemist, and some others.
They
Are
Just
Annoying!

Argh
I even makes me mad just to write this to you guys!
grrr...
Let me calm down.

PSS:

This is an example, exept, that's not how they act.
And this is suppose to be humorous, not serious.

Well, people at my school mix languages all the time (we're in a very mixed neighborhood). I hear people speaking Spanglish all the time icon_biggrin.gif

In any case, I agree that mixing Japanese with English CAN be overused. Even I will say the occasional "gomen" or "arigato", but I don't usually use it in talking with my friends icon_biggrin.gif

I've gotten used to language mixing.

In Hungary, almost every person who is younger than 30 are language mixers. Mostly hungarian+english, but there are german+hungarian and yes, nowadays hungarian+japanese starts to be even more stronger. My father's brother's childs use japanese words in all of their sentences.

Japanese+Hungarian:
"De kawaii ^-^!"
"Arigato, kedves szüleim!"
"De cuki az a neko! ^-^"

English+Hungarian:
"Az kemény thing lenne! icon_eek.gif "
"Ez aztán cool! "
"Jump ide föl mellém!"

Recently I started to speak hungarian+english to my mother. She knows english, but never understands what I say. Especially not because I use hungarian pronouncation for english words, too.

As for the battle with Sig... I mean, as for the mixing of english and japanese... They are quite different languages, but it's not so weird for me. Maybe it's furcsa for somebody who isn't used to a language keverés.

im a 13 year old bishoho (thats pretty girl) that likes pinku bento bokusu (thats pink bento boxes) animu (thats anime) and dansu dansu (thats ddr). im in a nihongo kurasu (thats japanese class) at my gako (thats school) but my sense (thats teacher) is a total oni (thats demon, like in inuyasha lol). my favorite shows are furu metaru arukemisuto (thats full metal alchemist), inuyasha (thats inuyasha), and couboi biiboppu (thats cowboy bebop, supaiku (thats spike) is such a kawaii (thats cute) bishi (thats cute) boi (thats boy)). ^_^ (thats a nippon (japanese) face)

Personally I can't stand the growing weeaboo population. Everywhere you go on the internet you see these people who are so into Japan that they constantly try to be Japanese. I understand watching anime because you like it, but when your life revolves around anime and you even watch anime porn (...) you are at a point where suicide would be best. And most of these people who try to learn Japanese are never going to go to Japan, and would be laugh out louded at if they did.

I was playing Endless for the first time in two weeks yesterday just to see global flooded with a debate about what "Japanese food" is the best. Of course everyone was yelling "Ramen" (the ramen noodles you get at Wal-Mart are made in California), "Pocky" (basically flavored sawdust), and "sushi" (I don't think they ever even ate it).

Weeaboos are just taking the place of "wiggers". Many people think it is "cool" to act black, but being Japanese is the same thing but for anti-social people.

I am fine with people who are interested in the Japanese culture, but when they run around the internet like a bunch of asian-supremacists chanting about how much they want to move to Japan it is annoying. Not to mention the majority of them enjoy butchering the English language. And using the Japanese words wrong...

Edit: I loved your image by the way, almost made my testicles explode during the process of laughing. That is seriously how I see them talking on the internet, saved. I loved the "I know this may be hard to believe, but I have never had a girlfriend." Epic indeed.

This topic reminds me of some /b/ copy/pasta:

I certainly hope that's either fake, or some idiot who thinks they know Japanese. I don't know a lot of Japanese words but dang, even I know they got some of that stuff wrong. The name of "Fullmetal Alchemist" in Japan isn't even remotely close to "Fullmetal Alchemist," for one. icon_heh.gif

But, it sounds to me like those kids are just using it so that people don't understand what they mean. It's like those people who use "Spanglish," but use Spanish only to curse so no one knows that they're saying. icon_shrug.gif I mean, if you called someone an idiot, you could get in trouble, but if you call them a baka, and the teacher doesn't know what it means, then you can't get in trouble.

Personally, I think it's a bit silly to mix the two languages. They don't really fit together in the same sentences, being from completely different origins. At least Spanish can slightly mix with English due to them both originating from Latin. Even then, pick a language and use it. People shouldn't think it's cool just because it's Japanese, and people won't understand them.

And, being a big anime, manga, and Japanese video game fan, even I can say that I don't personally understand the "everything Japanese is cool, I wish I were Japanese" idea some fans have. It's interesting yes, and there's some parts of Japanese culture I like too, but dang, don't act like everything over the is insanely perfect or something like that. It's not. icon_razz.gif It's not something to revolve your life around in hopes that if you speak enough Japanese, watch enough anime, and play enough Japanese games that you'll magically become Japanese and live in your happy fantasy world. It's not going to happen, so get over it. icon_razz.gif

(Note I'm not directing this at any particular person, I just like speaking in 2nd person.)

depends on the words being used imo, like loanwords are fine.
However the way they're using them.. is pretty gay. It's not as if anyone's going to understand whatever the hell you're trying to say, making the conversation fruitless, you may as well just speak english. There have been times I've considered do it before, but because of that it doesn't seem worth it. I guess the only real situation in which it could be useful is when it's the opposite and your speaking to someone who only knows japanese, and you throw japanese words into your sentences so they understand you only know a little japanese and they'll try to piece bits and pieces of your sentence together to understand what you're trying to say.

Yeah, that's more understandable. Most Japanese people, from my understanding, know some English, as it's taught in schools, so they might be able to understand basic sentences, but some Japanese words thrown in might help then understand you more. It's something practical to do if you're going to Japan.

But, like you said, that's not the point of the kids NineLives was talking about.

Alot of people have in their minds that "Japanese" is some elite language or somthing, maybe its because of Anime, I don't know or really care.
When people mix Spanish and English, do you feel the same way?
"Whats up my amigo?"

Gee, thanks for insulting my life.

And no, that's not being sarcastic. I agree there is a stopping point, but what you described is ENTRY LEVEL otaku-ness (forgive my english+japanese, can't think of a better word icon_razz.gif)

Maruchan Ramen is made in America, but so is most Chinese and Mexican food you'll find in America. icon_biggrin.gif And don't you DARE insult Pocky!>.> Chocolate Pocky is better than sex!

Yes, they are very annoying people. Especially the ones that find out I watch anime and follow me around and ****, that's just embarrassing. They think everyone who likes anything Japanese is like them. Not to mention the fact that real Japanese people hate them. icon_razz.gif

I dunno. I actually like it when he talks like that (Somewhat). It actually makes me visualize the mood people are in. icon_shrug.gif

Anyhow... a bunch of anime nuts (I'm not insulting you! Heck, I'M an anime nut!) that used to go to my school are --literally- ending everything they say with the word "chan" or "san". I know what that means, but... it DOES get old after the first 100 or so times.

There's my 2 cents.

It's annoying. It's fine to watch anime (I watch it about as much as regular TV), but people like that irritate everybody, whether they be regular people (i.e. those who don't watch anime), Japanese people, or any kind of primarily-english-speaking otaku who doesn't engage in the activity. It's an irritating habit that gives others a bad idea about the sane people out there. It's a plea for attention, too, so the best thing one can do is to simply not talk to them.

I've only got one kid who does that, and in computer science, but when everyone in our row pretty much shunned him for it, he stopped doing it. Great success awaits, if one can get others to do the same. icon_shrug.gif

So, the moral of the story is, just anything else that people do for attention, ignore it. Above all, don't challenge them or show an interest, that'll only worsen the problem.

So, learn Japanese, and try to engage them in a conversation entirely in Japanese. Either they'll step up their game, or step down completely.
