Shouldn't Shane be considered the winner by default as a result of an act of disqualification on Marco's side? Marco was permanently banned from the forums, wouldn't that as such make him no longer a candidate for this competition?

No, that would be unfair. His map is winning and it just looks nice.

Granted, I feel the same, but I still feel like Shane is competing against an artwork that one "belongs to a member we have decided does not belong here" and two "have no candidate to really claim the victory in any way, and probably wouldn't even want us continuing this competition with his work".

I'm not pro supporting or pro against it, whatever the decision may be is fine with me. But it's odd to see a competition where one party is simply banned from taking part in it, therefore I am surprised no disqualification has been made.

As a participator of this contest, I don't think that's fair, to be honest. Marco is still a ZCer as far as I'm aware and the effort he poured into the map is still there. I don't think a member's status should reflect the quality and acceptance of the work. I see where you coming from, but personally I love the map and the contest is about designing the best map. And besides, he won't be able to join in the future contests, so I think it's respectful if we allow him to join in the MotM fun one last time.

 

Now voting a map because of the subscreen is very unfair. I mean what.

Hey, I think it's kinda sad that maps neither have subscreens or link and enemy sprites! It almost makes them a bit more lifeless, but therefore they show more than just a single screen.
