I think I know where you're going with that, but I haven't even found the regretful-one "ghost" yet.

I think my assumption that the regretful one is in the noise pit, under some diveable water, has proven false. Unless I'm mistaken and Zoria, in a twist, is the regretful one.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. She's east of the library to Noise Pit. However, there's no diving involved, keep a close eye on the water.

Obviously "???" is the spitting image of the character that gives the lamp, farore's wind, and the jumping cape, but I can't remember that character's name - if it was even revealed in the first place.

It turns out I haven't fully solved the Tristana (wizard) feelie yet, just solved the password for library.txt. My bad.

 

I also haven't fully solved the bus passenger's (the many) feelie yet, but am 99% certain I know how to. I'm just waiting on finding a magic wand (or some other magic source) to reflect, because the reflected sword beams don't seem to satisfy the recipe requirements for a Novel Wall fish fry.

I just thought, in case you haven't, maybe it doesn't have to do with the rat animal, rather people who are "rats". If so, I still can't figure out what's up on that one.

Damn, I was convinced the ladybug puzzle was just a second hint for finding the key of muse from the Laura (fox) puzzle.

I'm also still stumped about the rat keyword. I thought for sure the password must be "cheese" or something stereotypically rat-centric, but nope. That's an interesting thought that "rat" could be used in a figurative context here.

Thanks, been reading these posts and some have helped me. To be honest, I've grown frustrated with some of the quirks required to reveal secrets that I skipped ahead. If you want to go to the endgame and if you have the max of 5,000 rupees, you can keep buying hint keys in the Town of Romance. The rupee counter doesn't take the full 2,000 - as long as your rupees over 2,000, you can keep buying keys. I stopped at 23, which is obvious overkill. Also, I made a copy of my game when I skipped ahead.

For the rat, the passcode is written on the wall right behind him. You may have to talk to him again though.

The wand is in the Jazz Temple. When you have the cape, the screen towards the top with an island, take a leap of faith to the left.

For the Esper, stand between the 6 pillars (the floor looks a bit different) and keep hitting the A? button. Eventually, the passcode will be revealed.

Yeah, this quest has some interestingly quirky elements, but also obtuse and questionable solutions required to solve some of the secrets. I wonder how much of this is lifted from the two games the quest maker mentions as influence: LaMulana and Notpron. I haven't played LaMulana yet, and it's been many years since I delved into Notpron, and can't remember anything from that/ I already mentioned the Hall of Vision block puzzle, but there are a number of other bad design choices and unhelpful in-quest hints that I could mention when I write a review. Those solutions to the rat and esper secrets are kind of copout solutions for the quest maker to include, and not something I would have thought to exploit. There's a big difference between a riddle that requires a clever answer, and these two examples that either require a really lucky guess, or some as-of-yet unseen and un-telegraphed mechanic.

Why not make the answers "cheesewheel" and "tranquility" for the two respective secrets I just mentioned? Those were two possible solutions I actually guessed intuitively. That's better than squinting at a wall and button mashing to find the solution.

 

FWIW, I wasn't able to duplicate your hint key exploit. Maybe that's something that was fixed in the update.

 

I did have a bunch of extra rupees, though, so purchased some keys to finally head for end game.

Notice how the Ganon statues and the texts are the same between the room with the wall that you bombed to find Tristana, and the room immediately below? Try bombing the same place you did before, but in the room below.

I'm going for 100% completion now, but have some lingering questions:

I had to buy two mystic key replicas, but they appear to be blanked out in my completion screen above. I'm guessing this has to be the intended way to get all twelves keys to unlock the heart of the ruins, because only ten keys of muse are obtainable. Or, if you can find two mystic keys without buying them, how?

Deedee mentioned being able to ask Melody about findng heart container pieces. I forgot most of the dialogue string that followed from saving Melody in Suspense Wild, so I think I missed something important. I'm mainly just curious about this one for novel purposes, because I know the HCPs I'm missing are from some random screens where one has to kill all enemies.

I recall there was some string about the novel ruins now having WIFI, and in the Town of Romance library, there's the instruction manual for a router with the default password. Is this information relevant for anything?

I never found the "lonely home of the wandering ranger," so never found the shield block either. Is this needed for 100% completion?

Melody's home is actually the lonely ranger thingie. Go one screen east of the Tornado tree in Woods of Mystery, see some trees that are slightly different with some dirt tiles in front of them? You can press A there that will ask you if you wish to enter a small opening and it will take you to the Lonely Farm. Melody is there and she will reveal all HCP's. I accidentally found them all without asking her.

Hiya folks! I'm glad to hear y'all're enjoying the quest! ♥

 

I've refrained from saying much as I wanted folks to try and communally solve it, but as many are wrapping up their playthroughs I think now I can clear some common questions that I've seen. I've spoilered it for anyone who hasn't though!

For 100%, you have to find all 12 intended keys from the password files, as well as all four rings, all heart pieces, and the level 4 of both sword and armor. The keys in the shop are like "skips" to fill out the key count if you can't solve some. Collecting the real key will still count if you have bought keys. In Useless Old Man Wisdom's case, Teacyn's key and Maddie's key are missing.

 

All beds can be slept in regardless of progress, and the dream sequence that happens in Sound Library occurs at random at a 1/4th chance. There is a diary in one of the shelves that mentions it.

 

Melody's house is in the Woods of Mystery on the screen east of the warp point. You have to inspect the trees on the right side of the screen where the branches are different. The shield block is there, too.

 

The "feeding the dog" action is heart container dependent, it requires 8 heart containers and also you have to have that many hearts filled (this one's because the setup is a bit janky I'll admit)

 

The WiFi password is unfortunately a relic of an earlier build of the game that I forgot to take out. Originally all the passworded files were in one big zip folder that you used the wifi password to access. This turned out to be really annoying to the testers (because windows lets you see the passworded zips inside) so I just got rid of it and put the passworded files in a normal folder.

 

I do not consider socialists to be rats, to clarify! I like socialists!! That puzzle was made by my friend Jangleforks whose fursona is a rat

 

I'm probably gonna take a break from PureZC and ZQuest Classic for a while for my mental health, I burned myself out a bit getting this quest done in the 3 month dev period I gave myself haha

In regards to 100%, I did some random diving and found 2 heart pieces AND another heart ring (turns it blue on the inventory and recharges faster). If you want more help, I can be more specific.
