A Tribute to an immortal Toyline
and a legendary Cartoon Series

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is uniting generations of action figure and fantasy fans. This line brought the sword and sorcery hype from the TV screen into children's playingrooms. Now it's upcomming for Zelda Classic.
...so raise your sword and shout it out: "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL..."

INTRODUCTION:

Within the "golden years" of the classic franchise, ATARI released a MotU Game. ...and the fans were disappointed.
Weird gameplay and no real He-Man vibes...

In the following years, the game designers seemed to forgot Eternia and the Masters.
Then the 200X series and toy edition came out.
...and the most powerful man in the universe conquered the screens and consoles, once more.

Games like "Defender of Grayskull" were nice, but very short and linear.
The simple hack 'n slay system doesn't fit for a Hero like He-Man.
The games didn't offer player controlled transformation.
Battle Cat had only been available in dedicated stages.

So I decided to create the Game, that I would have wanted to play ...ON MY OWN :)

The inplay graphics and screen designs are influnced by games like "Terranigma" and "Secret of Evermore".
...but everything is based on the authentical Filmation and Mattel style.

STORYLINE:

An ancient eternian lore says: "The Hero will fade, when chest has opened".

In a secret chamber, in Castle Grayskull, the Hungry Chest had been hidden. Sealed for centuries.
But now ...it is awake. And not even the sorceress can control its unleashed greediness.

It will feed itself by the powers of Grayskull, unless 7 soul orbs satisfy its hunger.
So hurry, before your strength is gone.
...your journey will reveal fatal secrets, older than the walls of Grayskull.

FEATURES:

- Transformation on Demand:
Unless the Hungry Chest (which represents your active subscreen) is satisfied, your Grayskull Power will drain when you are He-Man and re-gain when you are Prince Adam. You can only transform Adam into He-Man when you reached a certain power minimum.
But attention... When the power level is too low, you will turn back into Adam.

- The Green Tiger:
The "fearless" Cringer is Adam's loyal companion and beloved friend, since his childhood.
You can call him to seek and detect hidden items and secrets, as soon as you defeated all Screen Enemies (maybe he's NOT SO FEARLESS)

At the beginning of the quest, your Grayskull Power (max.) is too low, to transform Cringer.
But during the game progress you will recover your stregth and become strong enough to call your mighty war beast, Battle Cat.
The abillities of your companion will increase as yours do, so Battle Cat will learn personal special attacks and other helpfull skills.

Skysled Stages:
Heavily inspired by the Corridor Levels in The Guardian Legend (NES) I decided to put the famous eternian Sky Sleds in the Game.
Seek for "Air-Harbor - Screens" which are hidden in some areas, to start the Flight Stage sidequests.

...gonna add feature updates soon

The quest is planned as a scripted, story driven Randomizer.
The first test- and demo file is gonna be german language.
...but an english version will follow.

This is so script-heavy and so unlike traditional ZC quests that it reminds me of the time I was toying with the idea of creating a Final Fantasy 6-like quest in ZC (I actually built most of the engine to a very satisfactory level, but then when I designed the first areas and playtested them, I remembered an RPG, even with a good engine, is boring if you don't have a really good storyline to go with it... and I didn't have one, so I lost interest and stopped working on it). When people asked me why I was using ZC to do that instead of coding the game from scratch (I'm also wondering about that for this project), I was like "I don't know, I just really like ZC" :) I hope that, unlike me, you manage to finish your project.

This looks very interesting and, knowing your talent for creating music files, I'm looking forward to trying your quest. I do not speak German but will definitely try the English version when it is released.

I love ZClassic and to be honest,I have zero experiance in other engines.
When I began, I didn't think anything of the things I accomplished would be possible.

And yes, I'm a bit obsessed.
The more I accomplish, the more I want ...there's no way back :)

Maybe you should think about reanimating your "cold quest"...

...an SNESque ZC Final Fantasy sounds amazing, to me

This looks really cool, and strangely enough the least ZC quest I've ever seen. That subscreen in the opening section really appeals to me.

Much like Jamian I'm intrigued to see where you go with this - I'd be excited to play an English version of this when it's done!!

Thank you, very much. There are 2 subscreens I'm using in this quest. 1st is scripted the 2nd is a custom engine subscreen.

The one that appears first is a TAoL inspired spell-menu, the other is the Hungry Chest.

*The following spoiler will not include solutions... it just reveals some of the intro stage events.

I just noticed this was a thing. As a pretty big He-Man fan myself, this is a treat. Hope progress goes further. So far it looks pretty fantastic.

Thank, very much.
The actual level build will begin as soon as I finished the Cringer/Battlecat feature.
