I don't like short hand either. I can't type anything like that (I even use AOL) (I'm also younger than most people here)
Just goes to show what two years of computer class can do to you. It just goes faster when I use "regular" hand.

Hey, someone get Dustminion over here. He/she is the Grammar Witch.

... Why are we all still posting in the topic if it's no longer as applicable? icon_blink.gif Can't we all just agree that shorthand is acceptable but mildly frowned upon by all? icon_xd.gif

It is a good rule, especially since in many cases it only saves you from writing a few more letters. For those who type fast enough, using the home row method, this time difference is next to nothing. For me, typing the whole word out may actually save time since it requires less thinking, even though it is more typing. Common English words get typed out at lightning speed for me. Shorthand can also be more confusing to some people who have not completely sunken in such an unnecessary system.

So I say good thinking, Wild Bill!

Ah... its a pinned topic. It all makes sense now. Cool.

Shorthand makes you look like an idiot, so honestly enough if you want to look like an idiot go ahead. Although I do like what they did on the Lemon Demon forum, using the world filters to make the people look even dumber than they already do... as in "u" translates into "URETHA"... lol translates into something to but I forgot it.

Spaz, while Im not sure if gravedigging is agaist the rules in this forum or not, this topic is a year old for gods sake... please refrain from posting in topics that have passed on longg ago...

Yeah, I just talked to Spaz about that too about gravedigging. However, this is a pinned topic so can actually still post in it. So he wasn't breaking any rules. However, EatinCake, you are being a Rent-a-Mod which is also against the rules. So please remember to keep the Mod work for the Mods. Thanks.

Edit: I see that you figured out what you did before I posted and changed your post. icon_razz.gif

I would like to state that the rule that this topic refers to is now null and void. Instead of a shorthand rule, we now have a rule that refers to "Incomprehensible Posts". So, you can use a bit of shorthand, but if you use so much shorthand that it makes your impossible to understand, then you will be warned. This is why we encourage people not to use shorthand in the rules. icon_wink.gif

I know this topic is null and void, but when I saw your reply, I just had to reply back:

Thanks for being a little lighter on the shorthand. Sometimes I would shorthand something by accident (for instance "u" for "you"). I don't do it on purpose. It's just that I sound words out in my head, and for "you" and "are", I would accidentally type them out as letters. I accidentally did it in the chatroom, and WildBillBot scolded me pretty hard. Hopefully, that was just some sort of automated somethingorrather and not an actual user.

By the way, if any of you read the first post in this thread and took it as "news," please note that forum rules have changed several times since that original post.

Nobody really broke the gravedigging rule this time around, but I would note that when a post is made in an old announcement, it bumps the thread into the "PureZC Forums latest news" heading on the forum index. This is rather confusing... perhaps the admins might want to consider another way of going about it.

Maybe we can unpin this topic, since it's outdated. That way, it's a dead topic. But, I would suggest this thread be locked after being unpinned, since this one has been recently errr.... active.
