/np The Fall - Spectre versus Hector (Dragnet, 1979)

I found the Fall extremely challenging to listen to at first, even with their most accessible album, "This Nation's Saving Grace". Although, a few songs here and there on that album (the one-two-three punch of "Mansion", "Bombast" and "Barmy" is terrifyingly incredible) stuck on me, and eventually the whole album grew on me. After that, I went straight for their debut, "Live at the Witch Trials". I found that album very easy for me to listen to, but this is after consistently listening to Public Image Ltd. and My Bloody Valentine consistently for three months or so.

That said though, they are a difficult band to listen to - and from what I can gather, the first 9 or so years of their material (they've got so many albums I can't count) is probably some of the most inaccessible music I've ever listened to. It's simple really, you either like them or you don't.

/np My Bloody Valentine - Only Shallow (Loveless, 1991)

Pretty crazy how after releasing one of the best albums of the nineties the band just fell apart.

Fun Fact: Loveless is my third most-played album since February 21.

Interpol are amazing. Nuvo got me onto them actually~

/np Elliott Smith - Alameda (Either/Or, 1997)

I've sort of gotten into the whole indie folk/alt-country scene (the latter of which isn't as bad as it sounds - in fact, Calexico are awesome) lately and it's just nice and mellow in contrast to the dark, brooding, atmospheric, etcetera guitar rock.
