So I'd like to download the CGI animation creator, Maya.
But I don't want to give all the info about myself away just to download a thing that will be deleted off my hard drive in a couple of weeks, so could someone please help me to find an alternative place to download it?
Thanks,
~Limzo.

If they only give it away free subject to the condition that you provide your personal information, you have these options:
Legally, the deal goes like this: you get their program for free, they get your name, address and email for advertising purposes. You can accept or reject that (or pay up), anything else is breaking their terms and as such illegal.
I strongly recommend you don't download it illegally. If anyone did provide you another link as you asked for, it'd be "providing links to pirated software".
- hand over your info
- don't download it
- pay to get the full version
- download it illegally from a file-sharing site
- when asked to provide your real name etc. online and simply make things up as you go along

I've actually gotten the PLE of Maya. They haven't sent me any spam.

Well, I suppose I'll just not get it then. I don't want to give my address or anything away, and I don't want to risk telling them that my name is "Muffin Mann" and I live at "13 Dury Cresent". It's not like I'm dying to download it or anything, and what I plan on using it for isn't anything I can't already do (I had this crazy idea for it that you can't imagine without being me)

Oh, just go ahead and lie. If you're really worried about getting in trouble for that, use a proxy server or a public computer. Maybe set up a Hotmail account if the address has to work. The worst they're reasonably gonna do about it is send you a snippy email.

I see you've found out what everybody else does when asked for personal details online
Yeah, that's what I'd do.

Well, I'm not so bothered about lying, but I just don't want to give ANY details away, true or not. It just makes things complicated. I don't want to tell them I'm Dylan who lives in London but I still don't want to tell them I'm Bloopy Poopy who lives in Loopy. It's not something I'm urgent to download, so I'll just forget about it. What I want to do can already be done with other forms of animation, so I'll just return to what I know (e.g some horribly made claymations, very bad flash animation etc.).

Why not use Anim8or? (yes, typed exactly like that)

Because I wanted cell shading.

You might be able to find a plugin somewhere for that.
