Ok I'm trying to set up those shadow of tree tops to look right, but can't figure it out. So I made an example screen to show you what it looks like when I make them.

So my question is how do I set them up so they don't look crappy like this one?

Are you referring to the layout or the color? If you're concerned about the blueish color try pressing 'B' in ZQuest. If that doesn't make it look better then you have to adjust your palette.

I f you're using the pure tileset (I think you are) then you shouldchange the pallette to 10, which is light forest. Alternatively, you could go with 11 which is dark forest. In any case make sure to make the pallette changes both on the screen AND the dmap. Can't tell you how many troubles I've had over mixing that up...

EDIT: ZQuest sometimes reverts to the blue, even when you changed the pallette correctly... if this happens, I recommend holding one of the arrow keys to scroll to one of the edges of the map and then go back to that screen. Works for me. icon_shrug.gif

I'm using DoR too, and here's how I do it. I'll try to be as exact as possible. With pictures. Ooh.
Okay, here's how I do it.

1. Begin with basic screen. It's okay, but lacks a certain "something."

2. Go to Data -> Pallette and input 10. Ooh, it's darker and more foresty!!! icon_razz.gif It also doesn't burn your retinas.

3. Go to Quests -> DMaps -> whatever dmap the screen is on. Go to the "Appearance" tab and select 10- OW Forest as the pallette. This won't make any visible changes in the editor, but it will affect the appearance when you play it.

4. Now, make a screen to layer your shadows with. I used Cset 3 for this. The pallette for this screen doesn't matter; the pallette for the main screen will override it.

5. Put it on transparent layer 5 or 6 and... DONE! Look at that bacon sizzle!

Hope this helps, man. As I said, I use the exact same tileset.
