I have a Philips 2GB high capacity Digital Jukebox that I bought the first week of September. I only have about 40 songs on it, give or take a song. I listen to it at the hospital and in the car, and in my room and stuff and it has an advertized 10 hour battery life. But I was listening to it last night and it froze on the song screen and the song never started playing. I thought the battery needed charging, but I fully charged it and it's still completely froze. I can't get back to the lists or do volume or even turn it off, and I was gonna empty it and start all over but the software doesn't even detect it now. O_O And I've been taking care of it and being careful. I'll be calling Tech Support tomorrow. I never expected an MP3 player to freeze...icon_frown.gif

Oh a few days before, my sister's earplugs that came with hers melted O_O but it was another company's heh.

Has anyone else had any strange errors or surprizes with hand-held electronics?

Woah, that sucks. I guess it just... died. icon_shrug.gif Was it a cheap MP3 player? I hope it wasn't a real expensive one that you ended up just wasting money on. :\
Anyway, I've had a Gameboy to die on me, though I think my cousin broke it. <.< Other than that, I can't think of anything.

I've got a Palm m505, and (at least on my Palm) it's the program that makes the handheld freeze almost all the time.

It could just be a bad batch of songs. You might want to download them again, or choose another source to get them from.

Another thing to check is the company Website for any firmware updates. Basically, when you connect the handheld to the computer, the company who makes them will sometimes have updates for the software that runs the handheld -- the OS. They might have an update available that fixes your freezing problem.

Hope everything going well for you, btw. icon_smile.gif

My Palm Tungsten E has frozen a number of times due to poorly written software. It has frozen a couple of times with no apparent reason, but the event is very irregular. Thankfully, my stylus has a poker for the reset button.

My NOMAD Jukebox 2 freezes from time to time, especially if I turn it on and try to start playing too quickly. Other than that, it's rock solid.

That has to suck. That's one of the reasons I don't like MP3 players, is that it'll freeze up on you and all that. Also, good ones are around 150 bucks or more (my buddy bought oe for around 120 bucks, and it's a piece of crap). But that has to suck, overall.

WB suggested I reset it and it works now, thanks WB! And actually I had upgraded the firmware the day before it froze. O_o It costed me about $170. And I'm doing pretty good, Z_G thanks. icon_smile.gif

You can get an MP3 player from the MuVo line of products by Creative for less than $100. They're great players... but don't expect to get much space for the money. icon_heh.gif

Well, I'm glad it works again. I wold be super mad if something happened like that to mine. Well, actually it has. One of my Flash carts for my GBA doesn't work anymore, and it all froze up. I was a little mad. I will get it fixed eventually.
