Dead enemies not staying dead

I've got a dungeon room with three of the same type of enemy, with the 'Never Returns After Death' flag ticked. You have to kill them all to open the doors to leave the room.

 

However they return every time I re-enter the room.

 

I've recently upgraded from 2.53 to 2.55. They were staying dead in 2.53.

 

I've pasted the enemy settings to another game and they behave normally, so I was thought that a game option was overriding the enemy flag, but the two options about enemy death are identical (Enemies always return, Must kill all bosses to set 'No return' screen state).

 

Any ideas what may be causing the dead to rise again?

That does sound like a regression.  What kind of enemy is it?

The 'Never Returns After Death' checkbox is in the 'Basic Flags' subtab of the 'Flags' tab of the enemy data window.

It's Moldorm. If I change the enemy type it is fine.

Segmented enemies work very weirdly; gonna guess this probably never worked for them?

It worked in 2.53, and it works in a 2.55 file I started from scratch.

That's why I was thinking it was a flag I've missed, or a flag I don't understand and have misused.

Huh. Do you have any "Compat" QRs enabled in "Quest->Options"? (Compat QRs all specifically enable bugs for old quest purposes, so generally for developing new quests you don't want any on)

Thanks for the offer. I'm on a work trip and my work computer doesn't want to let me run the editor. I'll let you know on the weekend. 🙂

No Compat QRs enabled.

For future reference, easier to use this button:

which copies *all* of your QRs to your clipboard as one big chunk of text (as opposed to taking a ton of screenshots).

 

(no clue what's wrong, haven't had time to look)
