This is an idea that we can move the subscreen to the bottom and the playing area to the top. Many Spectrum, C64, Atari ST, and Amiga games did this to reduce rendering space, so this would give ZC quests a classic look.

That's a cool idea. LA had a subscreen on the bottom too.

While it would be possible, most of the current engine expects all sprites and draws to have an offset of Y56. This would be a rather much larger rewrite than it seems, but it is something on the table for the future.
