Lol that is funny one pal. I like Eggman said Why?! million times. Lol.

Sorry Zeldaman23, but unfortunately you are actually going off topic, replying to Schwa's little addition to his post. You saying you like Eggman, and whatever else you meant by your post. But in reality, your post had nothing to do with the topic at hand. Please remember to talk about the actual topic too, if you are going to reply to a topic, when replying.

I saw this yesterday. Wasn't worried. Knew the site would be back up and running soon, if not within a day. Now here we are. icon_biggrin.gif

IRC'll still be up in the event that Pure itself goes down. Plus, you guys could exchange AIM/MSN/WLM/Skype/whatever hip internet messenger info you want as a way of keeping touch. Or Facebook, since a lot of you seem to use that. D:

Anyways yeah. I heard that bandwidth could be cut down if you guys changed the forums' stylesheet to an external link (a .css file) instead of just internal CSS (<style>), but I think you'd have to hack IPB to do that, which sucks. icon_frown.gif

This is entirely true. For those wondering, every single page load has 20kb of CSS inline (CSS is the magical voodoo that makes the site look like... a site).

Now, 20 kb doesn't sound like a lot, but the forums had over a million (1,000,000) hits in April before the site went down. 20kb x 1,000,000 is roughly 20GB. Since the site only has 50GB to work with each month, that means that 40% of the site capacity was used up by this CSS.

Normally, CSS is put into separate files, and the web pages just say "Look over there for the CSS", which allows the CSS to be cached (only downloaded once), instead of downloaded every time.

I set up a test board (don't ask where I got it icon_smile.gif ) out of curiosity (even though I had already looked it up and learned the following), and it appears that IPB requires the style information to be inline. Prime example of bad internal design. IPB used to be the best board software around, but eh ... not so much anymore.

But it'd be a giant pain (and given people's time constraints, not really feasible) to migrate to a different board, what with all the custom hooks into the ZC file database, the skin, and tables being possibly non-convertible ...

Yes Zaire, that might be a problem.

Anyway, I didn't even notice. But it's nice to hear that this place is dying anytime soon.

I knew that we'd be back oniline by the start of May, at the very most, after I noticed it went down. I just simply lurked over at SMWC for the time being (and found a thread for a SMW-Touhou hack over there icon_razz.gif).

Don't worry about our webmaster, AGN's is worse when it comes to inactivity...

Yeah, true. We have the opposite problem, if it can even be called a problem. Seems like there's this great influx of newcomers lately here at PZC, most of us who have paid attention can see it clearly... It's kinda weird to think that PZC might very well become the Main Hub of all things Zelda Classic related, if it hasn't already. icon_smile.gif

I don't know how I feel about that. On one hand I love helping out new faces, but on the other hand, it'd be terrible if this became another SMWC. I'm not worried about the latter scenario though, primarily because the leadership here is in another league from that of SMWC. (Let me give you an example: their outlook is "ban first, ask later" and for us it's the polar opposite.) If anyone can handle the Future, it's us.

As far as I'm concerned, other than actual program downloads, this already is THE site for anything Zelda-Classic related. Seriously, just stick the programs downloads links into the website, maybe add an actual 2.5 database instead of a forum one and this website's got anything you'll need.

Sorry I didn't mean to. You can ban me again if you want to teach me learn the lesson to follow.

I thought this website is over and never open it again. But good thing WildBill fix it back.

Oh, trust me, the last thing you ever have to worry about here is a ban. The staff here are smart, and they can tell the difference between an actual troll and someone who's doing their best but faltering a little. That, and bans are typically regarded as "absolute last resort" with very few exceptions. I think you'll be just fine here; it makes sense that newcomers to the site, or to forums in general, take some time to adjust to the flow of things here, and even people who have been here for years sometimes goof up, staff included. (Staff actually have more rules to follow than normal members.)

To summarize: We love you here, Zeldaman. We're not gonna throw you off a cliff just for accidentally stubbing someone's toe. icon_smile.gif It's far more common to get scolded than it is to get "in trouble", so just do your best, be open to learning (heck, be open to everything, it's healthiest ^^), and most of all, don't stress out! Because Zelda Classic is made for FUN.

Oh, don't worry Zeldaman. The staff here are not going to perma-ban you for a few minor mistakes; this is not AGN, where newbies can't cope with the staff abusing power and the insane gravedigging rule (from my experince there, anyway). Just rember that how Angeal said that appeared to be only a notice, note the word "how". Warnings are generally much more serious than that. I believe that your temp. ban was only to try and point you the right way, only because a posting supsension didn't. Just rember that you have to be a terrible member to be perma-banned from here.

This is starting to go off topic here...

Anyway, I think that Wild Bill should upgrade our bandwidth if we are getting more and more popular, which might be the case because of what is happening to AGN.

Ok, I'm just going to close this, as everyone has either figured out that we were down, and are back up, or never noticed we were down in the first place. Conversation has strayed enough where this doesn't need to stay open.
