Well the title pretty much sums it up. I am going to make a 3d zelda game! When this program, http://www.darkbasic...mecreators.com/ "darkbasic" It looks like a pretty good program, it say all of the games made in it, have stand alone capability. So I would also be able to make a totally original game and sell it! I think this program would be good for any one thats wanting to learn game making, on a more advance level than zc! So if they were actually going to go to school for game making they would have a better knowledge of a more modern game! So what do you guy's think?

You wouldn't be able to sell it because its copyrited. Also DarkBasic is pretty difficult to make a full game with. You need to know a lot of coding.

My friend worked on a game for over a month and he only created a small sword fighting game against one enemy. And he was good at it.

EDIT: didn't see that you meant you were going to make a different game not zelda.

I have dabled in some of this stuff before. The reason I was putting this here is because I know some people are wanting to learn game making, so if the learned a little bit before going to school well the it would make it easer! And yes I could sell a game that I made that is not based upon a copy righted game! But as for making the zelda game, its going to be a miture of a zelda game and Goth 2, this one I could not sell.

description of the zelda/gothic 2 game I am going to make:

Basic zelda character's but moblins will be orcs, octoroc's will be crawlers ect
and others will be normal zelda character's as well.

then the tri force peices will be rune magic usable by the player, needed for various things through out the game, the player will ba able to learn alchemy, rune magic(triforce) new fighting skills, summons ect.

Thats what I have planned befor and here is an exert from the site:

CODE
For the first time ever, the power of the PC and Microsoft's game engine Direct X can now be controlled by everyday PC users. It's no longer the sole domain of the expert 'C' programmer. Anyone with a PC can now make 3D objects move around the screen interacting with other game objects and taking live responses from the game player's inputs.

Can I Make Commercial Quality Games?

Other people are! So there is no reason why you can't too.

If you've got the dedication and skill then you could produce a game worthy of retail with DarkBASIC. A number of DarkBASIC developers release their games into the Shareware market selling via their own web sites. Others have their games sold via independant distributors and publishers. If it's really good you can even find your game appearing on magazine CDs which is what happened to Star Wraith 3, featured in the PC Zone magazine for a number of months running.

But I've Never Programmed Before!

We can all sympathise with this - no-one is born knowing how to program a computer game and at times it can seem like a very distant and alien language. We were well aware of this when we designed DarkBASIC and tried our hardest to create a language that is as easy to read as it is powerful.
If you've got this far then with a little determination and learning you could teach yourself all you need to know about programming with DarkBASIC.[b]For extra help along the way there are free on-line tutorials or a 750-page book available.[/b]

see there is a free online book for any help you will need!
