It's an anime I watched.
people told me it was a girl anime, but I didn't care...
but what I found out when I watched it...
ITS SOO FREAKIN SAD!!!
When you reach episode 6 or 5, the story starts to get insanely sad!
I cried the whole time... T_T
There are twelve episodes, and a Movie.
I watched the movie, it isn't as sad as the anime, but it has more of a relationship with the main character and another main character.
I suggest you guys should just watch the anime... you don't have to, or if you don't have time, you can just see the movie, which is somewhat a short version of the anime with many changes.
Wahhh....
Gao.

:o Air! Air is a wonderful series, and it honestly has to be one of my favorite animes ever. It, like NineLives said, is sad, but it's a beautiful story above love, parenting, as well as several other things. Definitely a series that I'd highly recommend for anyone. Though, I'll admit that there's a few parts that are a bit confusing, but generally once you rewatch it, you'll be like "Oh!" Also, for those that aren't interested in downloading it, the series is licensed, and it will be coming out later this year. I've watched the series twice, but I still plan on getting the DVDs. As far as the movie goes, it's good for a summary of the series, but it's probably best to watch the series, then the movie. The movie doesn't explain a few things as well as the series does.
Also, NineLives, if you like Air, you should watch Kanon. It's a great series too, and it originated from the same group. I personally prefer the 2006 version, but the older version is pretty good too.
And... who ever told you that Air is for girls doesn't know much. Air was originally a hentai PC game that became popular because of its exceptional story; thus, an anime series was started, and later a movie. Judging from the background, I doubt the anime suddenly switched intended audiences.

Okay, but if I watch that one, then you have to agree to watch Trigun.
Deal?
I'll start making up a contract.

The only real truely "sad" anime I've ever watched was Elfin Lied, and if I still had a decent internet connection I'd give this one a shot. I like more adventerous action, clever characters, scandelous situations, and fighting frenzies though in my anime. DBZ, pre-cards Yu-Gi-Oh, FMA, Trigun, DB, FL CL, ect. ect.
I'll keep this in the back of my mind though and will be sure to look it up.

Air, I remember that being mentioned to me back in February, which was when I started watching Kanon 2006. I always figured it was based off a random popular VG and had nothing to do with Hentai. I may have to check it out.

Well, the Air game has some hentai in it, but it's not the point. From my understanding, the Air and Kanon games use it as a "reward" or sorts, but it's not the focus of the games like some other games. I believe the main point of the games is their stories. But, I've never played it, so I can't say for certain. Anyway, both the Air and Kanon animes are clean, for the most part. The Air anime has some slight nudity, but it's nothing bad, and it's far from fan service.

I agree that Kanon is a lot sadder watching it the first time than Air, though I think Air is sadder watching it a second time. I watched the original Kanon series, thought it was sad, but when I watched Kanon 2006, I didn't think it was sad at all. Air still gets me close to tears each time I watch it. (Bwahaha, I never actually cried watching anime though, I've just come close. )

Most of it has to do with it showing Kanna. Like I said, it's very slight nudity. In fact, I think all they show is her butt. The movie also has the drawings of Kanna, but that's still nothing major.

oh yes, Kanna and others. Totally forgot about them
there's also a "misunderstanding" at the end of the 1st summer special episode
that is funny when you learn the true matter at the 2nd episode

I saw the whole thing today, ... yeah, ... I ... can't even remember how many times I had to reach for the tissues.
Elfen Lied is still my favorite Anime series, with Spirited Away my favorite movie. But can one still have grapes as their favorite fruit when they have tastes of ambrosia?
