Thanks Rocksfan, but Ricky didn't actually troll me IMO... He didn't say "You're being elitest", he said "I detect elitism in your posts". I mean you're the boss, but I'm just saying, it didn't bug me one bit. Mainly because it's true; I do have a tendancy to hold others to high standards in whatever I'm doing. Which is funny, because I'm definitely not the best Questmaker here on this site. (I say there is no "best", because everyone likes what they likes.)

You have to understand, though, the new betas stress me out. They're awesome to use, but I find it sad that everyone's all OMG BETAS BETAS BETAS and that means 2.10 is getting left in the dust. I LOVE 2.10. I'm like, come on, at least wait until the full version of 2.5 is ready before forgetting all about how wonderful 2.10 is. icon_frown.gif Now it looks like 2.10 is becoming more and more obsolete every day...

It's as if the reality I've created around me is dissolving from the seams up.

Anyway these are all my opinions, and it's perfectly fine (and even expected) that you disagree... You'll just never convince me that 2.10 is less-cool than 2.5b.

You know, I just don't get why people feel the need to constantly pester the ZC developers for a stable release. More importantly, I don't get why people continually accuse the developers of not doing their jobs when a few annoying bugs pop up. They're not the all-powerful tech gods that some people seem to think they are. They're just as human as the rest of us, and thus, are prone to making mistakes. Also keep in mind that they're not even making a single buck out of working on ZC. It's a free-time activity thrown into the jumbled pool of a little something called...ahem...a personal life. You should all be glad that they continue to diligently work on it.

Also, Beta != Full Release

Here's a little something from our good friend Wikipedia:
Bottom line: If you're a beta tester for ZC, there's a 99.99999999999% chance that the version you're testing is going to have at least a couple things in it that don't work properly. If you went into beta testing expecting the devs to get it right the first time, beta testing obviously isn't for you, and as the old saying goes, "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen." I should probably mention that the versions we've been working with lately are alphas, so there's even less reason to believe that they would be perfect.

Don't get me wrong. I'm just as eager for a stable release of ZC as the next guy, but constantly bickering about it isn't going to make it come out faster.

I love you

I was going to post something like this in that threat at AGN begging for a new build, but you did it expertly. Moreso than I could have, anyway

I agree with you 100%. I understand that, but the fact is I switched to 2.5 because a developer told me to because it was supposed to be release in the next 3 months. Well it has been more than 2 years now. And just like you said, things change build to build. Which is why, I am not making my game. I still make it but at a snail's pace. I am just waiting for the stable release to make my game. I'm not mad or begging the developer's to finish, I am just disappointed because I had thought at this stage, I would be releasing The Dark Shadow with Eye of the Moon released a long time ago. But as it looks right now, EotM ain't coming out for years. :/

When using the build, people really have to understand that bugs will probably impede their quest's production, and may even destroy their work. I know what I'm risking by using them. I know I may lose all my work. That's why I prepare with back-ups, and other precautions. If a bug comes up, I try to find a way to work around it. The tile bug, for example, isn't that hard to work around, really. Just copy and paste the pallette you wish to work with in slot one, and copy slot one else where, so you don't lose it. I'll wait patiently until the next build comes, but in the mean-time, I'll work around it.

I've been using the latest betas to build a quest, and while there are a few bugs that have halted progression in some development (can't make a string without Zc crashing for example), but theres always something you can do in the meantime til they release a new build. Design a new area. Make graphic.

I agree with you completely... It's getting quite tiring hearing that all the time... It's been like that a long time, and it needs to stop.. -_- People have lives, and can't devote themselves to developing ZC/ZQ. If they did, they'd get worn out, and then there would possibly be a lot more bugs then when they take their time like they are doing now.

I'm not into 2.5 just for the features. While it may be a plus, I'm using betas more so that I can find bugs, and avoid all the largely more obnoxious bugs in 2.10 and other versions. In fact, the more testers, the better; and the faster bugs get fixed leading to an earlier release.

You guys have no idea how difficult it is to remain diplomatic when dealing with this.

icon_cry.gif Aw man that was depressing...

Thanks for everything so far, Jman. I appreciate you on a cosmic level of epic proportions. icon_shy.gif
