How about Brawl? That game was 2D, but looked 3D. It could be possible...

Uhhh... surely, you can't mean Super Smash Bros. Brawl... that game was entirely 3D, I assure you.

Only the cutscenes. The gameplay itself was 2D. It just used 3D models.

Well, if it's a side-scroller, I consider it to be 2D. Still, the backgrounds and some objects could probably be ripped from it.

the rest could be hand-drawn, if someone wanted to take the time to do so.

Uhm... What the?
Brawl has "real" depth, doesen't it? Just because the camera is placed on the side, does not make it 2D. It makes it into a Sidescroller, but not 2D.
As far as I'm concerned, 2D refers to "Two Dimensional", which again means that there's only.. two dimensions. But when 3D, you can actually see the depth between front, middle and backround. Right?
Sure, Brawl could be sprited, but it wouldn't be ripped verywell... is it possible?
Hey, I don't know... but it'd look more like rendered pictures, really...

I'd say: go for custom... icon_biggrin.gif

I only played melee, but isn't there a pause and turn camera function on brawl? That will make you see that it's 3D...

On-Topic:
A Majora's mask tileset...
Or a Ocarina of time tileset...
Because there are lots of OOT remakes that failed...
But now we have 2.5... So theres only the tilesets missing.

That would be nice. While we're at it, why not throw in a fully scripted Mario set

Well yeah, but the Kirby one's in the works.
I'm not planning on scripting Mario =P

Mario shouldn't be that hard. Just give Link the Stomp Boots.

Fire Flower stuff can be done later.

The old DoR is basically an OoT tileset.

To solve the issue: Brawl has 3-D graphics, but 2-D motion. There we go; all settled. icon_smile.gif Of course, you could argue that every video game ever created is 2-D because it is projected on a 2-D surface, like a television screen. But that's beside the point.

I've always wondered if it's possible to script a 3-D game engine using ZScript. Basically, the program would consider all of the combos placed on a screen, evaluate the combo type of each, determine altitude, and render the screen form Link's perspective or a nearby third-person one. Can you imagine, seeing the First Quest (or any other) in 3D in Zelda Classic? Now that a Pong game was created, lots is possible with ZC.

So yeah, getting back to the topic, a 3-D set would be awesome.

DarkDragon made a 3D ray-casting engine in ZC.
I've not been able to get hold of the file since when I first saw it though, which was probaly a year or so ago now.

It was pretty awful in reality, but it was certainly quite interesting.

You mean ZelDoom?

Yea, that was pretty interesting, to say the least, and was quite amazing to have something like that on ZC.

DD had some name for it involving Wizzrobes, cause they were what you fought.
