I have a simple question here. I'm currently using GIMP and I've never used Photoshop, but is it worth it to switch to GIMPShop? From what I've read, GIMPShop is designed to be userfriendly towards Photoshop users, but is it better than GIMP 2?

GIMPshop is GIMP - with a bit of change to the user interface. Basically, it makes it a bit more like photoshop or other programs in that you have one main window and all image windows, toolbars etc. "live" in that one. It also changes the position and order of the menus to resemble photoshop.

It's a matter of taste really - users new to GIMP will find this one easier to use, especially if they know photoshop.

Which is more mainstream? Like, if I needed to find a tutorial for something, would it be easier to find one for GIMP or GIMPShop?

One benefit of GIMPshop, as its website points out, is that you can almost follow photoshop tutorials/books with it. And there are certainly a lot of those out there.

GIMP has some fairly good documentation itself, see docs.gimp.org.
I'd suggest you have a quick look through that and if you find it readable, go with GIMP.

GIMPshop-specific tutorials will probably be quite rare, it's not as well known as GIMP itself, but you can try googling "Photoshop tutorial" and see if you find anything there.

I tried both, and I have to say, I prefer GIMP. I never used Photoshop, and you can't find any GIMPshop tutorials out there, so GIMP was the obvious choice for me.
