Hey guys. I wanted to get into ZQuest and make my own quest for once, and actually contribute to PZC, but I don't know how to use it. I tried Alphadawg's tutorial many times, but felt that I couldn't really grasp how to use ZQ. Anybody have a different noob tutorial that I can use, so I can finally try and make a quest? Thanks icon_smile.gif

As far as I know Idontknow's tutorial is the best.
Get it here.

Idon'tKnow's Tutorial is good, but ONLY after Alphadawg's. It doesn't teach you any basics, just advanced stuff.

Trucky, instead of just "reading" alphadawg's tutorial, actually follow along and make the screens he tells you to, and you'll have the features down in no time.

Yeah that's what i've been trying to do, it's just not sticking, like HTML does for me, even though HTML is probably far more complicated icon_razz.gif

HTML is more complicated, but not by much. Anyway, what I did was do the tutorial TWICE all the way through, and then practice warps by starting to make your own game and putting warps to different places. That's the hardest thing to grasp, warps.

Yeah i'm actually having a problem with warps. Like to designate where Link starts and such, when I try to drag where I want him, it doesn't wok and ZQ freezes up. I'm using 2.10.2 on Windows XP if that helps.

You mean the Little Blue Square and Green Square? That makes ZQuest freeze? Just once, or every time? If it's every time, then you've got to get a different build or something, because questbuilding without the Blue and Green Squares is impossible.

It does it every time and yes i'll probably have to get a different build. Do you know of a stable build that I could use?

2.10. icon_smile.gif

Other than that, I am not too familiar with the Beta Builds, I'm afraid. I've been operating on 584 for a while not, and although it's definitely outdated, I know that it is fairly stable.

I'm not on a beta, i'm on an alpha i think. I'm just going to switch to the original 2.10, or try a different 2.10 and see if that works. Thanks for your help icon_wink.gif

Try using betas, I can assure you that you won't have as much problems as people tell you.
Simply backup a lot and report bugs if you found them, the developers can fix the bugs which makes the beta more stable. You give yourself more stuff to use, and you help the ZC community.
Get the beta's here.

I would recommend not to use a beta. There are tons more features, yes, but in the beginning ZQuest can get overwhelming and you don't want extra features clouding your brain. Definitely upgrade to 2.5 once it's out, though.

Well, I kinda had to go to the betas, considering the other ones wouldn't work for some reason. I'm still going to stick to the basics though, until I can get the hang of the program.
