Mega Man X

Thats a fun game to try and speed through. Although I usually just go for the Hadoken and stop there. Definitely a SNES masterpiece

If you want to speedrun them, go ahead, it'll just cut out the experience.

I dont really think it would cut out the experience. You have to know the game inside and out for proper speedruns, so that "experience" has already been....well, experienced. If anything, I think speedrunning would help the players achieve a different, yet still similar experience to the game.

It just sucks because i run in on gamecube. And the gamecune version tends to freeze a lot. Its just really bad in general.

Yeah, the GC version wasnt able to properly emulate the N64 expansion pack from what Ive heard, and thats where most of the problems originate.

Yeah, even Ross from Game Grumps has done a 3-hour speedrun of Skyrim (link). You get deep into the game in just a half hour by going OB with bowls and using the torch glitch to get unlimited run.

I like to speedrun FinalFantasy 1 for the NES. I am doing pretty much that, all the time now

because i am hacking it to make a new game, so i have to constantly test things with FF Hackster latelys.'

>And for majoras mask its a good speedgame imo. It just sucks because i run in on gamecube. And the gamecune version tends to freeze a lot. Its just really bad in general.
At least you're playing Majora's Mask and its GC version is relatively common. Try to speedrun OoT at Cosmowright-level seriousness and you're forced to buy a special chinese N64 with support for only five games.

Anyway, Wii VC's emulation of the N64 Zelda games is stable enough and better for speedrunning that the original N64/GC versions.

Nope. Cosmo has been beaten by two people playing the Japanese Wii VC version. There's a new trick (discovered by the current leader, Skater), that, last I heard, crashes the iQue. And if so, good riddance, I say.

Now that I have a nice computer again, I'm practicing my speedrun of Portal to try and cut down my times. The advanced strats get pretty tricky. Most of the main time-savers I've got the hang of, but I'm still struggling to find the knack of ABH, 8, 12, 18, and the office after the room with the fans. I expected 16 and 19 to be harder, though. Bumping and peeking were actually pretty easy to get the hang of. But with 8, I fail the second jump 20 times for every single time I make it. In 12, the cycle is so long that if I miss my window the first time, the run is dead. In 18, the edge glitch sometimes just flat out doesn't work. I'm still getting the hang of ABH so I only use it when it's a long sprint I can guarantee will pay off.
