Right, so that's the obvious one out of the way. I assume this was a completely fresh full install of 2.55 so it couldn't be a missing data file? When you try to run it, does the process briefly appear in Task Manager? And is there anything printing to allegro.log? I don't really know what would cause this issue, but that info would probably be helpful to someone who does.
