Just a few questions. First, how long are each chapters supposed to be? I'm guessing maybe 30 minutes to 2 hours? Also, what is the purpose of marriage in the game? Are there benefits included, or is it just a neat feature?
I won;t know the actual length of any chapter, until I have finished that component; and of course, it will depend on the player, and the actions that they take, including the story path they choose.
Marriage is a give & take situation, in the game, each with its own benefit/drawback combination. Each of the potential arrangements, is a specific combination of benefits, and drawbacks; and the potential in Chapter XIV, is considered the 'Best Good Ending'; but anyone not familiar with the setting probably wouldn't understand why.
Kaalana, is the eldest daughter, and in fact, the eldest heir, of Zanaz Saeros, which means that particular ending would situate the character in a position of great power, and prestige. Obviously, any story path that leads to betrayal of Saeros, would not present this opportunity.
I specifically selected Mathrus as the main character for this game, because there are conflicting accounts as the marriage of Mathrus and Kaalana, and a great deal of their history was intentionally purged by Saerena--daughter of Datario, son of Saeros, who later became Empress--from the Imperial record, while the other marriage of Kaalana, post-ascension, occurred after the events that sealed the Searenan Empire into another dimension, and at this point in the timeline, has yet to occur.
If I add additional party members, they would each have their won benefits, and drawbacks, as I feel appropriate; and the player would need to rotate between them to handle situations. That's a potential feature, that I may, or may not be able to include, based on its complexity.
