Is it possible to make it so that the mirror shield gets powered up after a certain amount of fireballs blocked? Let's say, the mirror shield is a B item (like it's equipabble in LA or MC) after some blocks, it becomes able to shoot a beam back. It would be cool. If scripts can't check for the fact of blocking a fireball, maybe it can be done by checking the coordinates of Link and the fireball...

Another Mirror Shield add-on is the cooperation with the wand. Let's say, Link shoots the wand magic on his mirror shield, because reflected magic is stronger than normal. So the scripts checks if the Mirror shield is in use when the wand is used, and if yes, makes the wand magic stronger.

Are these possible? Somehow...?

I'm pretty sure Joe123 could help you out.
This requires some complex item scripts, but I have no knowledge about ZC scripting.

The first one might be possible with jman's new projectile coding, but I've yet to see how it works.
You'd have to check all projectiles on the screen every frame, then if a fireball dissapeared when within a certain distance of Link, and he didn't take any damage, up a counter.
Then when the counter was at a certain value, shoot out a new projectile from Link.

It actually requires no item scripts at all.
If it would work like that anyway.

And the second one is relatively easy, all you need is a little pickup script on the mirror shield, so that when Link gets the mirror shield, he is also given a more powerful wand with the same graphic.

Ah, OK... It's just good to reveal new 2.5 tricks in advance...

So if that projectile check works, it's all set.

That mirror shield reflect is also good this way, but I'd like it better if the mirror shield was a selectable item and the wand could be selected with it the same time and if the player holds the mirror shield's button and THEN he/she presses the wand button, then a "Link shoots his shield" animation takes place (not longer than the usual wand animation) and the wand magic became other colour this way.

That would require scripting yes.
So that means you would try Ballad of a Bloodline on 2.5?

No, absolutely not. It would be easier to start from scratch than saving the quest in 2.5 and fix the transition bugs and add new features. Plus, the mirror shield I plan wouldn't be something that is usually charged and the "wand" is also not something that you'd use on a mirror shield, especially not if it's THAT kind of mirror shield I will have.

I gave up even the thought of scripting when I started my 2.10 quest, but nowadays I get some ideas and I feel like sharing them. After all, if there ever will be a stable 2.5, I will need scripts... To tell the truth, the scripts whiches idea I bring up from time to time are for items/features that I would like to use in a possible BB sequel........

Yes, maybe a Ballad of a Bloodline Deluxe version.
That would be nifty.

At first, I wasn't so interested in scripting as well. But for some of my ideas, it's required.
I still find it hard to work with.

Well, scripting is a base feature in 2.5, not a hard trick that requires multiple DMaps and a lot of warps and combo cycling... That's why I would use them heavily in a 2.5 quest. But that BBDX is a good idea. I would start from scratch on 2.5 and boom... There are some must implement scripts like pits, rolling, new scripted items (cane of somaria, shovel, true ocarina), decorative FFCs, trap FFCs...
