^ And SotW 146 (last week's) was a perfect example of this... The great gameplay shots (Mine, Link75's, Sharon's) lost to an empty hallway with good tiles (Linkus).

Ever since Prince left SOTW seemed to have been getting less and less popular because of the fact Prince wasn't running it, and that the everyone always voted for the pros who would completely steal the competition making some people feel uneasy and not enter another SOTW. It doesn't feel right when Gashin/Linkus/Radien/Noel seem to always steal the spotlight letting us all feel like fools. Especially when Noel enters when basically calls us fools for not using custum graphics. Isn't this, Screenshot of the Week? I've seen excellent gameplay screens be killed by dull boring screens with excellent custom graphics.

I'm coming in next week. But it won't be boring....

Agh, you people get discouraged too easily. So what if there are a few so called "pros" who always get all the votes? Think of SOTW as a place for you to develop on the graphics department. Okay sure, not all people give constructive criticism, but some of us do.
Now I'm not suggesting we should get rid of the polls or anything, I love SOTW the way it is and have always loved. It has always been a popular and good palce to show off your screenies.

Too bad the SOTW seems to have a decline in popularity. Maybe someone else should be running the SOTW? I dunno, but the lack of interest in SOTW during these last few weeks bothers me. One thing that is very wrong is that there's a SOTM and SOTW at the same time. Really foolish if you ask me! I think that the SOTW takes too much attention away from the SOTM and vice versa. Also, a one week rest for SOTW (during SOTM) would guarantee enough shots for the next SOTW.
SOTW should be more advertised as well I guess. Meaning, make a bigger fuzz about it, but banners in sigs and that kind of stuff, plus the one who runs the show should always remember to update the latest SOTW/SOTM winner on the front page.

But ah well, that's just my opinion so go ahead and ignore me.

Peteo, that's easy enough for you to say, you can make an SotM winning shot! There isn't really any reason to enter in SotW if you are not going to win, and as I said before, if any of the 4 enter, they are pretty much garunteed to win no matter what. Need proof that you have to have custom graphics skills to win? Look at this week's. An empty hallway won. For the love of god an empty friggin hallway.

I have no idea how many SoTWs Ive entered, but by no means have I won all of them (maybe half, if that). If you work at it, and work at it, youll eventually get to be as good as the "pros", its not as if its a unatainable goal. Its like everything, if at first you dont succed, try try try again, until eventually you do.

Oh well, I thought I gave you good enough reason to enter. Heck, even I get frustrated to see "wrong" screenshots winning all the time. But I've learned to accept it that pretty tiles -> good overall screenshots here at PZC. But you know what they say? "Beauty is in the beholder's eye" or something like that. If a boring screen with pretty graphics pleases the masses, then that kind of shots always win. But why get discouraged about it? I know SOTW is a small contest, but why winning it should be the main reason to enter? Why can't people just have fun and learn from the comments they get?

Maybe Gashin should be banned from SOTW to encourage people to submit more? Nah but really, it saddens me to see such a great little contets getting so little attention these days. Just for that I'm gonna start submitting classic shots to support SOTW and to show I don't care about winning.

I find it hilarious that it is tuesday and Hero_Link is nowhere in sight... He hasn't even started a topic whining about it. But Meh. Maybe I'll enter an LoP shot.
