Cool idea Radien. I think something like this would be awesome to have. One question, how will this be applied? Like say for example, how would you really know a Member's age?

Usually when I see anything marked as "over 18 only" on the internet, I add it to the block-list and run a mile. I guess there's a chance this will be different, though. Worth a try even, perhaps.

Just one question: I don't do porn or anything related. Is the 18-plus forum really as free from such stuff as the rest of this place?

In general I agree with Bengal at least 100% about PureZC at the moment. But I'm willing to give this a try.

It's difficult to know for sure on the internet, but the bigger a lie it is, the harder it is to maintain it. That's all I really want to say about that.

But anyway, part of the point of this forum is that a lot of the stuff we're going to be talking about won't be of any interest to people under 18 anyway. Of course, it'll vary, but that's the general idea.

Yeah, it will be. It's specifically stated in the rules. Not everything for 18 and over has to be porn. icon_razz.gif

Hahaha, good luck with this one guys. You seem to have a problem with learning from the past. *shrugs*

Hopefully it will work out and not blow up in your face like the others times you've attempted something for a "mature audience" (debate forum, Et cetera) on this forum.

You have too many kidos running around here. But kudos if it works. icon_wink.gif

I don't see how that can be a problem, seeing as they won't have access to the forum... icon_shrug.gif

Bear in mind that those who are under 18 are not allowed in there. With an additional post count requirement, it is hard to get around that, since by then we have a good idea who people are, and anything suspicious would already be noticed. So there are entry requirements for gaining access, and they must voluntarily sign up. As for how it is going, so far so good, as early on as it still is. Just gotta play it by ear. This is nothing like General Malcontent or the first Debate Forum, where just anybody could access it. Considering our experience with the much longer lasting and more successful second Debate Forum, the similar format with entry requirements should prove that it can work and hold a place for the older members to feel like they have a place to talk about issues that would be of little or no interest to youth and adolescents, or can be discussed with an adult level of maturity without it being disrupted by anything less. At first I was a little skeptical when Radien proposed it a few months ago, but I have my faith in him and so far it is going in the right direction.

When I said "kiddos" I was referring to your "oh I'm mature, and 18+ but I'll suddenly have a ADHD rampage and ruin it for everybody else" hopefully it won't happen. Good luck icon_wink.gif

Right, I get it. That may be a problem, sure, but that's what we are here for... I mean we, as in staff. If anything like this were to happen, the individual would lose his rights to access the forum and depending on how dramatic said "rampage" could be, a ban could be just around the corner too...

I do get where your feelings of doubt are coming from though, and it may very well be a big problem. Hopefully though, people will respect the rules and understand that having access to the forum is a privilege, and could just as easily be lost as it is to get it.

Yes. You said it! I wonder what my new quest will look like? Hmm. I still want Lost Isle music though because it's really COOL.

My dear Nate, look around you. Real life is like that everywhere.

Anyway, it's been pretty successful so far, because MD isn't inherently aggressive in nature. It's basically just another General Discussion.

Glad to hear its been successful then icon_smile.gif Hopefully things continue to go so, and I'm sure any issues will be handled. Just don't get discouraged if anything happens. Stick to your attitude/guns about it that you have at this very moment. icon_smile.gif

I can't believe I didn't notice that MD existed until just yesterday. Wow. Not that it matters for me either way.

My status gives me no right to comment about it, but I'll just say that I'm not sure that I exactly understand why it's necessary. Since the rules are apparently the same as the rest of the boards, it's not like discussing cigars or the stock market or whatever is going to traumatize younger members, and most juvenile members are not going to be interested in the said discussions anyway. That's the way it's always been. This just strikes me as an incredibly strange thing for a forum to do, though I feel the exact same way about OtBP. I suppose it's because PureZC is not a very traditional forum. I was under the impression that the staff wanted to decrease the focus on general discussion and refocus on Zelda Classic however.

This brings up another thought. GM could have worked. It was only because a few members, including myself, who were acting irrational and immature that it was axed after two days. If it was a sign up forum, like the debate room, it might, just might work.

I'm not asking to get into Mature discussion prematurely, because I really have no interest, but I do think that the age regulation is a bit absurd when practically half the moderating team only turned 18 less than a year ago.
