Welcome to sixlabrats. We cannot guarantee that our lab rats are fully equipped to fend off vengeful idiots, and I don't want to jinx our uptime, but we do hope that our modern facilities and comfortable furnishing is sufficient. I can assure you that our staff are not evil dictators and they will not unnecessarily interfere with your channels or else I will smite them with my spork.
(Though don't tell Kitreia that, because he probably likes the spork... I'll have to come up with another punishment :/)

Something's not right, because it still is timing out.
I think I discovered the problem. I attempted to connect through Java due to not being on my home computer, and I had the same problem. A few days ago I tried to connect through mIRC using port 7000 and I was unable to connect. When I changed the port back to 6667, it connected without a problem. So I think there is a problem with the use of port 7000, which the java client is using. Someone should pass this on to Wild Bill if I don't get the chance to.

There's always IRCops in the #help channel if you need assistance. I'm not online much myself due to work, but you can leave me a memo.

IRC is a little daunting at first if you wish to do more than just sit and chat - like register your nick, create and register channels, and learn how to manage them with certain commands. But if I can do it, anyone can
IRC is also a great source of internet drama!
[Edit] Messaged Wild Bill about changing the port to 6667.
