It's even more fun when you learn that you didn't have to let it happen that way.
And that, if you want to fix it, you have to do EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN!
P.S. Cave Story did this too, and it's method of saving the scientist is even more esoteric than mine.

Which is actually something I should post about in the Lets Play, I think. My intention in offing this character or that character is intended to be much more than mere "fridging" (the act of killing off of a character in a story, typically a wife or girlfriend, to motivate the protagonist). Each time one of the major characters in Zodiac kicks the bucket, it's actually because of something you did or did not do as a player. It's not obvious, but it's true. In the version the testers have, you can already save everyone on the Zodiac who wants to be saved.
If I have time, I will also add a final ending where you actually save everyone and end the war besides by doing something... very unconventional. I won't even put it in the strategy guide, but suffice to say, it won't take long to add this to the game and it is the kind of thing no one might EVER find.
