I am finally going to start these Inside Chapters. I know, it took me long enough right. My wedding is now in 13 days from this posting and I have just been super busy with that, so hopefully guys can forgive me. I hope to have Chapter 2's episode very soon, but I just need to wait for a time to record in between wedding stuff. If not it will be right after the wedding. Anyways, I guess it would make sense to post Inside Chapters: Episode 1 for Archives. This is almost the same exact post in the Fall Expo. Next episode we will talk barrels.
The rise and fall of the Legend of the Hero of Dreams has been told. However, the Tale of the Moon is just beginning. Years ago, The Hero of Courage came face to face with a power that the world has never seen. True evil. The Dark Shadow was about to cast over Hyrule when this boy of courage came forth. Little did he know the terror he would encounter and just how far he would fall to save the world.
Chapters of Enova
Welcome to the first look at Chapter's of Enova! I have been keeping this game very secretive for a long time, and I am very excited to show a little bit of it. Here is the first look of Chapter's of Enova:
With Hero of Dreams, I wanted to create a game that would feel alive. I tried really hard to design a world where everything feels connected and makes you feel like you are on a journey. I really proud of Hero of Dreams, however, I always felt that I was so limited on what I can do with 2.10. With 2.5's release I was finally able to realize this and produce a game that I hope tops Hero of Dreams.
This game is called Chapters of Enova. Some people may have heard of this game by another name, The Dark Shadow. I released a demo of The Dark Shadow back in 2005 at the Spring Expo. However, at the time I wanted to focus on completing Hero of Dreams. This game has went through major, major changes. That is because I wanted this game to set the bar for 2.5. But the program wasn't released until years later which pushed the game's release date. Once 2.5 is released, I focused on building the engine of the game with tons of scripts. Each script focuses on gameplay and makes the game much more interesting. I am finally glad to say, the main engine is done.
The graphic style is a blend of every tileset known to PureZC. lol. If you can recall with the demo of this game, it started off as a mix of NES/BS, with a little bit of Pure. Down the road, I started to mix the Adventure, DoR, etc. As well as my own custom made graphics. I am really proud of the tileset. However, it was hell to make it because... every tile is 8-bit. But it is alright, I focused a lot of the graphics, then worked on the engine, and now I am working on Game Design (my favorite part). Now that I am focusing on Design, the game is coming along a lot quicker. I think it is just because I don't like scripting... but if I want quicksand... I am going to make quicksand... oh know?!
This is a storyline driven quest. So for the text/storyline haters, stay away from this one. Hero of Dreams told a very humorous story, that gradually becomes a coming of age for Link. In this game, it is a lot darker than Hero of Dreams, however, still has the humor that we come to love in a Zelda game. Only, Link doesn't call himself The Sexy Beast. Again, there will be way more story than my previous game, so be prepared for that.
I know, I know... You wanted a demo. I still don't think it is the right time to create a demo. However, what I will do is make a video each month called, Inside Chapters. In this series, I will reveal a little bit more about the game. Next month, I will be talking about the main theme of the game and talking about Barrels. It will be barrels of fun! Here is the first video where I show a short clip of the game:
Thank you guys so much for the support. You guys have always been awesome! I hope you stay tuned to more news on Chapters of Enova.
P.S. Lots of Purple Trees!!!!!!
