Hi guys,
finally the time has come - and I could spend my trip to the U.S. in august for 4 weeks from the east to west coast.
I was very excited - our trip started at NYC and ended at San Francisco via a little stop at the Niagara Falls in Canada, Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago, Bryce and Grand Canyon, L.A., Las Vegas, San Francisco.
Great country and enormous distances we had to conquer. I was lucky and I could also watch a live rodeo in Wyoming in the evening. Also, the Niagara Falls are beautiful. We could watch the falls close by with a ship. I was happy, to get very wet ;-)
Nearly all people were very friendly.. can´t remember one unfriendly person... I was surprised about california.. L.A. and Venice Beach or Santa Monica seemed to be over the hill (since the 70´s)... San Francisco .. many people were homeless... One guy answered me: "Yeah, europe.. it´s totally different!" Can you confirm this as an american? You´ve ever been to europe?
But nevertheless, a really great country. If I have the chance, I ´ll perhaps do an semester abroad, at our partner-university in Colorado, Boulder.
Also I had one unforgettable experience in a hotel in Washington, D.C.:
I came back in my hotel from a trip to the capitol in D.C. and suddenly a girl appeared in front of me. Apparently she was drunk, and asked me about a lighter for three times. I answered "No, unfortunately I don´t smoke". She continued, saying, "ok, ok, where you from?" I answered, I´m on a holiday trip, and originally I´m from Austria, Europe. She said: "Wow, are you here alone? You´re so cute. Come with me! My room number is 449..." she said excitedly. I said, I´m very, very sorry, I would be very happy to go with you, but I´m here with my wife.. I think she would transform our hotel tomorrow in a living hell...
She answered quickly: "Does she like to ...?"
Haha, if just only a few girls here over in europe would act in a similar way! And I don´t tell you now, how the story has ended ;-)
Hope you can understand my english very well. You also like to see some photos?
Cheers,
Fred
