Anyone here good with Linux? I'm having a dilemma.

I got a laptop from my manager at work for $150 (Toshiba Satellite C655D; hardly used), meaning I finally have a fully-functional laptop in my possession again. I told myself long ago that once I get a new laptop, I'm going to use Fedora instead of Windows due to many personal problems with Microsoft. I've accustomed myself to the OS pretty well and have gotten most things where I need them to be in order to be comfortable. However, it appears my Radeon driver is not enabled/working correctly/configured correctly/something. When I boot, I get this message right before the login screen:

can't load firmware: Radeon/SUMO_uvd.bin

Then it proceeds to the login screen, with everything else functioning correctly. I'm using Fedora 19 with the latest Linux kernel. I've also been able to download SUMO_uvd.bin, but due to my lack of experience, I'm not sure what to do with the file from here on out. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Fedora. Googling that error message, I got this page. From the comments there:

It looks like the file goes in /lib/firmware/radeon. So check if it's already there, and if it's not, put the file you downloaded there.

Then it seems running "dracut --install /usr/lib/firmware/radeon/SUMO_uvd.bin --force" would fix it?

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Dude, you might be on to something. In all my googling, I somehow missed that directory (I even looked at that exact link), so I tried both of those things and now I'm getting a new, exciting error:

[drm:r600_uvd_init] *ERROR* UVD not responding, trying to reset the VCPU!!!

(it's essentially this, may be slightly varied; I pasted it from google)

I'm going to keep looking into it and if you find anything before me, by all means please tell me. Thank you!! :D
