I have an announcement to all quest makers. I have played many custom quests and I am starting to see a real problem. Please, STOP MAKING THE QUESTS SO DA** HARD! No offense, just I think that todays quest makers make quests too hard to play. I play quests to have fun, not to get 500 game overs in level one. These are some suggestions: 1 start with white sword or higher 2: start with fire boomerang and 3: start with no less than 5 hearts! I'm not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, I just think people shold make quests way less diffecult. Once I lost so many times in a quest I got so mad I broke my computer screen with the hard drive and ripped out the keyboard and threw it accross the room. So please, make quests less diffecult to ensure the safety of my PC hardware.

Personally speaking, most of the quests that I have encountered are not that difficult at all for me. Perhaps the real problem is that you need to work on sharpening your skills. I can guarantee you that if you start with the fire boomerang and the white sword at the start of the quest, you will hear much more complaints about the quest being too easy. If you are not willing to stretch yourself, then your skills will never improve. If you don't like it, don't play them. It doesn't cost you a penny after all.

Just out of curiosity though: Have you ever played the original Zelda 1st and 2nd quests? If you struggle with those, then expect to be challenged with most quests.

Yeah, Ive played the original first, I have the original for the NES. I really had a hard time with it. (I'm still on level 3) So I used Zquest to change the 1st so it's fair enough for me. (no enimes, sharter dungons, start with master sword)
And I really don't get why people think the boomerang makes it so easy. I think the boomerang is just useless.

The fire boomarang isn't useless it causes damage and stuns enemies even peahats while they're flying. I never found zelda 1 to be hard in fact I think its one of the easiest (minish cap is easier though). If your starting yourself off that easy then you'll never get better. BTW how many zelda games have you played?

No enemies!? No shutters!? Start with Master Sword!? What's the point!?

None of the games have been too challenging for me (except armageddon quest). Usually the fire boomerang is put in a late level- not at the beggining. Usually the wWhite sword is put near beggining middle- not given initially. And if you want 5 hearts, usually you have to earn them- they don't come free! You seem to be the only one having a lot of trouble. I don't think people will reduce difficuly on their quests just for you. Maybe ZC just ain't your thing.

I like Zelda classic, I just don't like quests that even have the slightest bit of challenge. I play video games for fun, not getting game overs.

well uh, maybe you just need a bit more practice, try to think of other strageties.
for example, if you see a wall you can take cover with, use it. and if something is shooting at you, just face them, your shield can block it!

other than that, keep practicing! PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, sometimes...

Fire Boomerang,
I need to use it more often..

Dude. I've had enough of unsmart people on PureZC. LITERALLY. HAD. ENOUGH.

If you want to complain about how quests these days are "too hard", then don't play them at all. Easy as that.

Now quit complaining on how hard quests are these days and get used to it.

as you can see, most people would prefer things as they are. Now, given, I've played quests, and they're all (or mostly) quite difficult, but I kept playing through them, only asking for help when it came to certain puzzles or finding things (which isn't very often that I do that either.) To enjoy Zelda is not only to explore everywhere and see sights for yourself, but to remember hairy situations and laugh back on them... moments and memories are created from that difficulty, and it puts an almost realistic spin on the games and how they draw out.

I don't know. It might be you're not too good at games in general. Or maybe it's just Zelda-type games, like Zelda, Startropics, and Brainlord... ...but since you're still here, It would seem you like playing them, so... ...just keep at it, and you'll find yourself quickly gaining a handle for them, allowing you to enjoy what you have and use it to the best of your abilities. Then, when you find a better weapon or armor or whatever, you can jump up and down with joy. icon_biggrin.gif

You said you got to level 3 on the first quest. Perhaps you can tell me exactly where you are struggling, and I can give you some tips. I can give you strategies on beating pretty much all of the original enemies from LoZ. Once you know some good strategies, it becomes much easier. If all you are doing is trying to hack at everything head on (I am not sure if this is what you are doing), of course you will be up for a challenge.

My guess is that you are struggling with the darknuts in level 3. You need to be able to attack those from either the sides or the back. Due to the shields, you can't attack them from the front. It also helps that you come stocked with medicine. In the original LoZ, you will need the letter (found in a cave in the northeastern portion of the overworld) in order to get medicine from the old ladies that don't speak. Some quests you must have this also, but in many other quests you can buy medicine without the letter.

That was completely unnecessary, skipper. I would expect much better from you. Please don't troll again.

Hey... shut up. Seriously. And, while you're at it, get a life. Seriously.

But, then again, most of us don't have lifes, so...

But seriously. Say that again, and I'll send you spam via email. icon_twisted.gif (Lol, joking.)

But seriously, I'm close to flaming you. Not on the forum, but by email or something.

Skipper, enough is enough. You are not close to flaming, you are flaming! This attitude is unwelcome at PureZC.

I'm shocked. I'm shocked and apalled at your behavior. Both of you. Flaming is absolutely unacceptable ANYWHERE. Do you hear me? Both of you? I don't care what situation you're in. Flaming is never an acceptable means to reach an end to something. It only starts wars, and continues feuds.

z500, if you're finding quests difficult, perhaps request from authors that a L1 cheat code be distributed, should people need it. That's really all you need, truth be told. Mental puzzles are one thing, but sometimes people shove mass amounts of enemies into an unreasonably difficult situation. They think that throwing enemies into the room makes it fun. It's not true for everyone.
