About Screenshot of the Week

Screenshot of the Week (SotW for short) is the ultimate test of creativity and screen design skill. Every Sunday (provided enough shots are supplied) a new poll will be opened, containing screenshots provided throughout the week prior. Any screenshot is acceptable in SotW, provided it is taken in ZQuest or Zelda Classic (although naturally Zelda Classic is preferred). The poll will remain open for any forum member to vote or comment in until the next Sunday, when a new SotW will begin.

Entering Screenshot of the Week

It's very simple. Simply create a topic in the SotW dropbox containing the following information:
Title: The week you are submitting for- for example, "Screenshot of the Week 1453".
Body: The body of the topic should have the screenshot (in either [img] or [url] tags) and a short caption if desired.
Once the topic is posted, it will become invisible to everyone except the SotW staff, including yourself. Congratulations! Your shot will appear in the next week's competition.
Do not PM any of the staff, including the SotW moderators, with shots. We created the dropbox so that we would not have to deal with them- so don't do it!

Other Rules and Etiquette
  1. Have fun. Whether you're voting, entering, commenting, or all three, remember this is all about having a good time.
  2. PureZC rules still apply. No trolling, flaming, spam, or off-topic posting, in addition to all the other rules.
  3. Rather obviously, shots must be made yourself.
  4. The maximum horizontal width of a shot can not exceed 350 pixels. The standard width for ZC shots is 256 pixels (and is the most preferable size) so 350 pixels is fairly lenient. SotW operators will PM users who send in shots that break this limit telling them to re-submit with an appropriately sized shot. Failure to comply will result in not being included in SotW.
  5. Nothing outside of the Zelda Classic window border is permitted in the submitted screenshot. In other words, if you don't use the screenshot hotkey in ZQ/ZC, you have to crop your shot to the same dimensions as normal.
  6. If a sceenshot has "No comments, please." under the shot, do what the sign says and don't comment on it. If you do, your post will be edited and you will be given an infraction. Repeated violations will result in punishment.
  7. It is good etiquette to give a reason for your vote. Simply saying "I voted for Mario." is spammy and annoying. Instead, try to give constructive criticism or point out what, specifically, you liked or disliked about a shot.
  8. You may only enter one screenshot per week.
  9. While most file formats are accepted, .jpeg's are not recommended because of the reduction in quality. You may find that people will give your screenshot less attention if it is a .jpeg.
  10. It is also considered good etiquette to simply "Null Vote" if one of your shots is in the poll. Voting for yourself is not against the rules, but it is widely viewed as unfair to the other competitors. If you so choose, you may vote for a screenshot other than yours though.
Winning the Competition

If your shot has the most votes the Sunday after the competition begins, you win! Once four weeks have passed, Shot of the Month will begin between the four winners. Once a full year of these has passed, Shot of the Year will begin between the twelve SotM winners. There are no other prizes- this is simply a fun way to have some friendly rivalries and get constructive criticism. Now get cracking, submit those shots, and go for the gold!
