um, if you're scripting it, I think you CAN determine damage done.

Okay, listen. There can be up to 10 enemies on the screen, right? Well, to modify the HP of an enemy (the only way Scripts can "damage" them), you have to load it. But how do you know which enemy is which? You'd have to load each enemy to a specific variable, then check if it got hit by the item!
Tomorrow, I will try to script this. Since I now know how to change one script's variables from another, I've opened up a whole new world of script possibilities! I know how I will tackle this, but please, don't bother me about it. PLEASE.
