I actually called Microsoft and asked about using it on another machine. I told them I built a new machine, and I wanted to use my Windows 7 on it, but I was talking to some guy with a heavy accent, and I don't think he really understood half of what I was saying cause he abruptly put me on hold then came back and said "blah blah blah for 99.99USD we can blah blah pay us moneyz". I went downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade thing to see if I could generate a promo code cause I thought about just getting windows 8, but once again, my version of windows is too old, and I don't have the full 40$ to drop at this time. However, you have a good idea about calling and saying I had to reinstall it. I'll try that actually.
I already bought the OS, so I think it's dumb that I can't even use it on another machine. I don' care much for the companies reasons behind single licenses, cause frankly, I don't care. I'm not a company trying to install one copy on 100 machines, or am I trying to 'steal' anything. I simply want to use what I already spent near 150$ on a few years back.
You know, I might just burn the newest Ubuntu to a disk right quick, and do that for now, F it . At least then I can fully use the machine.
Finally Building a Computer :D

So I built it I had a friend come over and help me out a little bit, but we got it up and running with no issues on the hardware side. It's pretty quiet and very fast, but I guess that is to be expected cause the dust and stuff hasn't had time to clog the fans and what not.
I have however, run into an issue. So, I used my disc for Windows 7, and installed it on the machine, thinking I could use my product key, and activate it (which would ultimately de-activate it on my laptop), but as it turns out, it is 'expired' or some shit. I looked around for product keys online, but to no avail (and I am not requesting them, don't worry mods). So, I have Windows 64 bit build 7600 but it is not genuine, but it is in fact, annoying.
It's pretty annoying cause I thought I'd be able to seamlessly transition to this new machine but I guess not. So, now, I am thinking about just getting Windows 8 since it is only like 30 bucks right now. Sigh. It's always something.
However, at the very least, I'm gonna see if I can download Dolphin on my external, and try it out on the new machine.
What you /could/ do is use a file to make Windows think it's been activated...I don't think it'd be safe to link that as that is looking towards the illegal side of things.

Welp, oddly enough, all the "Windows not genuine" things went away O.o'. I'm not complaining, but I think it is kind of weird. I still think I might dick around with a Ubunut partition in the future. I am prety serious about getting into the field of game design/ rogramming so I figure I might want to get used to that OS anyway. Anyway, This is my first post from the new PC I'm liking it so far. It's fun to set it up from the ground up (despite some occasional irritations). Just got AVG free, and my bookmarks inline. I still need to get Rocket Dock, as well as my programs.

Yeah I'm unsure about how they do it for Windows 7 and my copy of XP was an OEM copy. I could activate it multiple times with ease but after like the 5th activation (On the same hardware!) it stopped letting me activate over the internet and from then on I basically had to use the phone method whenever I reinstalled. I never had an issue with the phone method, there automated system worked pretty well and when it didn't, the people I spoke to let me re-activate...

Hey Anthus, I was wondering if you got around to using Dolphin yet? If so, I can share some settings with you in order to get some games running at optimal speed. (I also have Super Smash Bros Brawl on my laptop )
