Hate to disappoint you TMS, but most of those games work smoothly on a single 256-bit 8600M GT, 4MB DDR RAM, 2.5 GHz Dual core processor and a 250GB 7200 rpm HDD. My laptop handles it easily on the highest settings (albeit a few fps slowdowns from rapidly moving the mouse...And the Internet. Gotta find the cause of that.)

Crysis is what makes you need higher-end gaming computers though. Also, if you listen to the commentary on Portal, they took measures to make sure the game doesn't use massive resources, especially when looking into the Portals.

But great find Zem. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that it's not portable icon_razz.gif ; but yet, I will be creating my own comp soon (I've got a required course that deals with that). Hopefully it's not a crappy deal, like recycled parts or something that will make it impossible to get it working because of the incompatibilities.

(Speaking of which, I'm up for TF2 now...)

I think he meant that you would need a larger hard drive to keep the games (which tend to have large files) on, rather than it effecting how well the games play. icon_smile.gif

Aaron, I hate to break it to you but there are sites out there that have movies/tv shows you can stream.
Downloading movies is obsolete. icon_mad.gif

I don't like streaming, it doesn't work as well as when it's already downloaded. I will only watch something in .avi format with something like media player classic or VLC. That is by far the best way to watch things. Steaming requires a reliable internet connection. I just don't want to deal with that.

You do know that unless your on a decent 8mbit connection (or better), the quality of the movie needs to be drastically reduced in order for people to watch it without buffering every 2 seconds. A great example would be with the AngryVideoGameNerd. I could watch all his movies fine on my 256/64 connection except the recent ones because he switched to that other hosting sit that allows massive video sizes with little or no gain in quality with a video of a NES game.

Hi guys, my new computer is FINALLY here... !

First thing I did was take out my old HDD and install it into this beast.

After I installed Windows XP (Couldn't install Vista, not yet alteast), I quickly found out that I had an internet problem.
I found out I needed to get some drivers for the Ethernet Port, which luckily came on a CD with the computer.

After it was installed, it connected correctly and gave me this "Connectivity problem"... the little triangle with an "!" in the middle came over the internet connection icon in the task bar. A day later after searching and searching what might have been the problem, I found out it was the router.

I never suspected it to be the router because all the computers in the house were still working but it turns out it had somthing to do with a DHCP error.
My IP was 169.254.xxx.xxx which is completly useless.

I switched routers and I was able to connect to the router, meaning the little "connectivity" issue was gone.
I could not get to the internet although so I connected to the router through 192.168.etc... I found out the cable was disconnected so I reset the router to factory setup and it was connected again.

A while back, I was using this router with another modem and it was still looking for the last modem apparently.

Well, I'm back now. ^_^;

Most frustrating few days in my life, I tell ya'.

Yeah, networks are the most randomly non-functional part of any computer system. I hate 'em. But I'm used to 'em, so they rarely cause me problems anymore. Which is good, because it's my job to fix them...
