Despite the fact that XP is considered to be, by far, the best Windows, I had the best overall experience with Windows 98, many because back when I actually used Win98 I knew nothing of computers. As I grew up to get WinXP, I knew more about computers, and as I knew more, I figures out "Man, I need a better overall experience."

The ONLY reason I use Ubuntu now is because of the chance I took with my old battered WinME computer to make it usable for myself. Since then, Windows has never been good enough, regardless of some of the faults I've had thusfar.

I'm quite happy with my XP, every other one I've tried sucks.

From personal experiences, I like Windows XP the most, but 2000 was pretty good. :]

Vista really isn't that bad, though. Well, if you get past the fact that it's a complete resource hog. icon_razz.gif

I've gone through 95, 98, 99, 2000, and XP. I've had XP for a couple years now, and I like it a lot, so...

Resuorce hogging is one great pain in the backside nowadays. What was a high-end computer years ago is barely enough to run the OS nowadays. But you'll all know that a few years ago, it was possible to run an OS and have windows on-screen and use a fraction of the resources.

That's why I use xUbuntu (XFCE) on my laptop, and on XP I have the new look/theme turned off.

Yes, Resource hogging is a dangerous thing for a Laptop. My battery only provides 2 hours of Charge and Ubuntu makes the most of it in most cases(save when I'm actually using programs that DO hog the resources)

I'm not saying Windows is bad, I mean, if most of the people on Earth use it, then there has to be some things it does right. But Microsoft can do better, they got the money. If Linux can do so well in Open Source, Windows should, by far, beat it because they use real money on making it. If they can't make an operating system that can be resource efficient without being a step backwards, they're wasting their money on it, just like I feel we waste our money on it.

Also I really don't think 98 and 98SE should be considered two different OS's Thats like saying XP, XP SP1, XP SP2, and XP SP# are different as well. True they are, but at the core, they're not.
