I just found the latest Windows beta, and want to know how much a chance there is of permanent damage to my computer (running XP). Also, are there any known lethal bugs to avoid?

I'd avoid 2.5 as a whole, unless you're interested in bug testing. Betas are not toys!! icon_razz.gif

Your computer is at no risk, but anything that you make in ZQuest or put in that folder has a chance of not working anymore. Builds are NOT for quest building. They are for beta-testing ONLY. Any questmaker that tries to make a quest in them does it at their own risk.

EDIT: I pulled a you're/your. >_<

I'd like to make another point. Once you open up the beta and make good use of it's features, you won't be able to go back to 2.10. Why? You'll think "How am I supposed to build a quest without (feature)"

So, unless you want your whole perspective of quest building thrown out of wack, I'd stay away from the betas.

All the builds contain a text file (named "WARNING-READ.txt") that you should read carefully.

In terms of the betas actually harming your computer, there was that time (long ago) when a private one purposely 'deleted' the Windows Fonts folder - it was aimed at someone who leaked the private betas, and to this day that person hates AGN bitterly.

Thats now what I was talking about.

Not that you would get "ZScriptitis" so easily, but when you learn, you may never go back =P

Master_of_Power is right. I have meddled in the betas. I can never go back, because I've gotten so dependent on the features that were absent from 2.10. It's true what they say: "Once you pop, you just can't stop." icon_blah.gif

The best new feature (in my opinion of course icon_razz.gif) is screen state carry-overs. Most freakin useful thing ever. It just kills the old method of using boss flags and the like. Its so much easier.

But back on subject here, using the betas is not advised but some of us wish to do it to make the best of all the new features. But if I were you I'd just stick with 2.10 until 2.5 comes out, by the way things are looking, it should be out pretty soon. So just upgrade to that whenever it comes out. icon_smile.gif
