I use them, sometimes, however the fact that when your surrounded by enemies... well, you take time cycling. When you are on the subscreen, it pauses. Anyway, I'd definitly use the L & R for other actions, like Jump for L and Talking, doing, reading, rolling for R. icon_biggrin.gif

Sometimes I use L and R, sometimes I don't. I usually use the subscreen more in the dungeons, where I can have a map to view that shows one way exits and whatnot (you know what I mean if you remember the original NES dungeons).

I don't usually use them. I'd rather they be used for rolling and lifting and the likes.

I don't think I've ever used those buttons to switch items. Only with scripts like the rolling script.

It'd ALSO Be nice if we could get even MORE buttons for ZC though. icon_razz.gif No sense in having to take over two fully functional buttons when you could just make more. Buttons used SPECIFICALLY For scripted functions, and nothing else.

Like A/B/X/Y, L/R, start/select ?

You read my mind ... people requested a new feature halt until 2.5, but then  let's just say it's "more than possible".

As to the poll in question: I use them very frequently. I went as far as to memorize things like how many taps of "L" it is to go from boomerang to arrow in Lost Isle.

I use them all the time, but it requires a little more effort once you accumulate enough items. Also, in quests that use custom subscreens that have the items out of order, such as with Lost Isle, it is in a sequence that I am not used to and requires me to rethink the cycle.

I use them all the time for cycling through items, but the problem is that the game doesn't pause, so often I forget the order of the items and end up shooting myself in the foot trying to use them. I should use the paused menu more often, but it's so slooooow to come up...

Using L and R for other features would be fun. icon_smile.gif

Question: do people hate quests that put the items out of their usual order? I have been strongly considering doing this for DoR, just because the default order doesn't make sense in a few aspects. In particular, the hookshot and the boomerang SHOULD be next to eachother.

I just go to the menu. I have L and R mapped to Q and W and I still don't use them despite having them so close to A and S (which I use for A and B respectively).

I use them alot...but making more buttons are very nice... I always play ZC with a PS2 handcontroller so I could use more actionbuttons. Impossible to play Zelda with keyboard, doesn´t feel right icon_smile.gif

That doesn't really work for me because my 12-button controller doesn't get support for its Control Pad in ZC. So it's a pain to move around because of the joystick.

_L_ will probably add X and Y buttons in the post-2.50 era

I use them all the time for cycling threw the items, but that dosen't mean that i don't use the enter key, I use the enter key to see what (Unequipable) items i have if i forget what i have.

What do you mean by "probably"? By the time _L_ is done, Zelda Classic will be called Link to the Past Classic.

But anyways, to answer the poll, I cannot live without them. I'll ocassionally open up the subscreen, but for the most part I just scroll with L and R, since I have memorized how many times to press them to get from one item to the next. That's why Lost Isle confused me so much. The items were in different positions.
