Some good suggestions from people who already know the workings of Zquest, but how about a beginners tutorial to show newcomers how to start their first quest using 2.10.Personally speaking,I have tried to follow the two ancient tutorials available for earlier versions and it is confusing when trying to work with 2.10 and its added features.I just want a tour around the program and info on what all the various tabs mean and what they do.I know its boring for all you seasoned quest makers but I think in the long run you are going to have a lot more quests to play.I want to learn to use the program from scratch.I'm surprised nobody has thought to make a tutorial of this kind considering how long the 2.10 has been available.I have my quest 80% finished on paper and in my head but am very frustrated that I cannot put it into action due to my ignorance of the workings of the program.
Please can somebody do a 2.10 beginners tutorial??
I don't need videos and hundreds of screenshots.....just the basics of how to get started. The rest will come with experience and there are plenty of help topics available for the more complex things.
I am sure there are a lot of people who want to make quests but find it too daunting without an idiots guide to get them started.
I am an idiot....so guide me please! icon_biggrin.gif

And you should probably make one for 2.5 too. icon_biggrin.gif

Well, seeing as how the final version isn't released yet, I don't think it's necessary.

IMHO, I believe that all tutorials need to explain not "what to do next," but "why you should be doing it." This way your next objective becomes far clearer, and you can look for it a bit more easily.

Here's one for you, Shady-T. How to make a shop that upgrades itself when you buy an item. I have one of these in my current Quest and I like it so much, I think everyone deserves a chance to know how I did it. icon_biggrin.gif

I think we've mentioned that already. If it's different than the one that's already up for creation, specify how you'd like it written.

It'd certainly be nice if it was released to be analyzed so an explanation can be written. icon_razz.gif

Well, if you were a Molka Elite beta-tester, you'd know how it works, wouldn't yooooou? icon_xd.gif Actually that can be arranged. I'm thinking of firing one or more of my current beta testers 'cause they haven't reported in forever... Either that or a third one would be just fine. Tell me if you're interested, and if you are, post or PM your "resume" (which includes what other quests you've beta tested, astonishing ZC feats and anything remarkable you've contributed to the ZC scene). (Chances are you'd get accepted even without the resume, but you know, regulations and all... icon_razz.gif )

Or you could just show me a version of the quest with literally absolutely nothing but the trick that I can look at. icon_razz.gif Seriously, it's completely contrary to require people to be beta testers to see it, but to write a tutorial on it anyway. What's the point of either if the other condition exists?

(Just, uh, .. if you do make such a unique exhibition, be sure to make a backup first, in case you end up deleting and saving from your primary version. @ @. Happened to me once. Lost EVERYTHING.)

Did I? ...Well, christ, I did. Sorry...! icon_sorry.gif

I don't believe in that though. I can copy the Quest just fine. I can delete the copy of the Quest equally fine. But if I have to go into the editor and manually remove many parts of the game, I get very emotional. My creations are my children. I don't like to cut pieces of my children out like cutting watermelon with a scalpel. That might sound like a lame excuse, but it's honest truth. Call it an Autism thing. icon_unsettled.gif

But I DO want you to beta test Molka Elite. I'd be honored, in fact, 'cause you're awesome and I look up to you in some ways. Pleeeeeease tell me it's possible... :O

Ya know, SD, you could've revived your crippled quest if you went into your Recycle Bin.

Unless you're using a Mac or something. Do those have Recycling Bins?

Multiple warps per screen in 1.92

How is this possible? Or do you mean using the sidewarp as a second tilewarp and vice-versa, a bit like in MM:DWR?

I think it would be a good idea to make a list of these tutorials in the first post so we don't have to read through the pages to find already suggested tutorials.
