I am also glad that I got here before it was closed. I'd appreciate it if my entire post was read before you reply. This topic originally started out being about how Bible stories "rock". Meh. If I want fictitious stories about the creation of the world, I'll play Zelda, or Final Fantasy. I find those fictional stories much more enjoyable and fun to get through.
But on a more serious note, It has already been said, but I'll say it again. 2,000 years ago people wanted to know what made things happen. Obviously, they didn't have the technology we have developed in the last 200 years to see things. So they figured it just happened. So, I guess somewhere along the lines, it became the divine will of "God" for something to happen. "The world was the center of the universe, and the sun, and other planets orbited it along with the stars" once said an astronomer from long ago (I forget which one it was). This is a perfectly reasonable explanation. We see the sun moving, and as do the planets and stars. So, yeah, this was this "God" fellows doing. This is a perfect example; because he technology wasn't available to show them otherwise.
Now, we can see that we are not the center of the universe, and, we are actually moving away from it. People let go of this idea (The one about us being the center of the universe) because there was enough evidence to prove it to be false. I can hope that this will happen on a larger scale with religion as a whole.
I'm all for the good morals presented by the bible, but the amount of raw, made up, BS kills it for me. As ShadowTiger said, it's better to live your own life, and develop your own morals. I think this is true, and you should not set your life around a book that says beating your wife, and killing gays is okay.
Ahem. There are some people posting some of the most idiotic things, and I'd love to unload on them telling them how stupid, and flat out wrong they are but I won't. It's not from fear of getting in trouble, but instead, it's not worth it. Idiots will be idiots until they die. I can only hope for one day, when science can, and will finally disprove these fairy tales.
Call me a closed minded ass, but this is one thing I will never, ever accept. It still blows my mind how people can still accept things after those specific things have completely been debunked. I know not everything has been disproven. I'm talking about things that have.
Good day.
EDIT: I suppose I should mention that
this is my opinion, and you're entitled to disagree. I'm not trying to change anyone, or tell you how to live, so don't try that one.
