I am trying to set up advice guys like the one in NES Level-1 "eastmost peninsula is the secret".  What have I got wrong here?

I set floor tiles to black walkable tile, add Guy, add Message String, Room Type set to (empty).  There isn't a room type in there that I see that is specifically to give advice in dungeons.  I also went to DMaps and checked "use caves instead of item cellars".  The tutorial doesn't go in depth about this and doesn't explain anything about Strings in dungeons.

Dungeons don't tend to have the "Use Caves Instead Of Item Cellars" DMap flag checked. Do you have the "Special Rooms And Guys Are In Caves Only" DMap flag checked though? Because that would cause the guy not to appear except in a cave screen, which could be the cause of the issue you're experiencing. Advice guys don't need a special room type or anything, just a guy assigned and a string.

I don't know what I was thinking, it seems very self-explanatory.  I was sleepy when I posted this, confused I'm sure.  Thank you though.
