As long as I remember (I think it started in middle school) ever night I have trouble sleeping. I go to be at 11 and find myself still awake after 12. I feel sleepy yet I can't sleep. And when I do sleep I have terrible dreams (hard to descirbe) and I always wake up at the same time, 5:02... icon_eek.gif (Well not always same time, usually around that time) And when I get to school I'm so sleepy...I always wake up and I'm terrified like hell. (Dude yes I am afraid of the dark) And when I don't want to think about dead things, ghost, and other things I do. And I always find me or somone else dead in my dreams. Or that I'm going to die because of a desease or somone is trying to kill me. It's not cool, but when my bro sleeps in my room. (When my parents are fighting he sleeps on my floor) I don't have nightmares. icon_eyebrow.gif Same with my 3 sisters.

These many dream threads yield for a Dream Forum...

Anyway, there are quite many people whos wake up at almost the same time at every dawn... I also had it at a certain time. And I also have times when I get really scared after waking up. At this times, thinking about aliens scares me to death despite the fact that I don't fear aliens (just races from other planets... I'm not racist to hate them...) and I don't believe they capture people.

Not fully finished experiments hint for that there is some kind of supernatural animal that sneaks into county houses and such easy-to-enter houses, crawls to the chest of humans and cause nightmares. It's called "mare" or "spectre". The English "nightmare" word comes from this "animal(?)". Ancient Hungarians believed that these "I wake up for a big fear at dawn" thing is caused by witches... whos crawl up to the human's chest!
I'm really don't want to go so far that claim the existence of such magical creature, but think about it... You said that it doesn't occur when there is somebody other in the room with you!
I think you can find plenty of details about the above theory on the internet.

I also came up with another weird theory: maybe there is a vampire (Hey, serious! icon_aggravated.gif) in your room at that time and causes nightmares to you to distract you from the blood sucking.

The third weird theory is that aliens DO abduct you and use these nightmares to replace your memories of abduction. This is the most unlikely.

Finally, for some non weird (just for you to stop laugh, never serious materialists), these wake ups, as I said, occur at more people and they maybe count as simple sleeping habit of the person. For example, my father is very agressive and when I thought about this fact a lot, I had a lot of agressive nightmares, but when I rejected the thought, these dreams became less frequent.

So, have somebody sleep with you as many times as possible.

I've aslo noticed that when I leave my TV on with low sound and go to sleep I don't usually have nightmares. I'm wondering about that Mare dude.

Go to dream views. They do focus more on lucid dreams there but they will probably be able to help you with answers. I've learned a lot on that site.

I don't remember the last time that I had bad dreams. I did, however, remember wrestling with a giant leech, or something, last night. I wasn't scared, though. I wonder if it has something to do with my imagination.

It was awful after I watched the Alien movies. The movies about those weird killing species of unknown origin. I had nightmares for years because of them! Even worse, the dreams had cartoon characters in them, so I always thought about my nightmares while watching those cartoons... might be you can't even imagine...

However, there were a veeeeery long time for me without nightmares. Maybe I had a Mare repellant on me? Or I ate too much garlic? Or I had a peaceful life at that time? I didn't have a peaceful life, so the first 2 answer must apply.

I watched Hannibal before I went to bed last night. Thank god there was nothing about cannibalism in my dream.

I rarely have bad dreams, just nonsense dreams. I can't remember 80% percent of them. The worst of mine are only socially scary, nothing with monsters, blood and stuff like that.

I used to have bad dreams when I was a kid, but someone at church told me if I just pray that God will protect me from those dreams, it would be so. I tried it and I haven't had a bad dream since. That I can remember.

Maybe it was all psychological, or maybe my prayers were really being answered, but it worked. Either way, I'm sorry you're going through this. It sounds like you might be going through Night Terrors also. -_-

My suggestion would be to simply not worry about the bad dreams. Don't even think about them. If it's hard to do that in the dark, use an old remedy like a night light (nothing shameful about that) or turn the lights on but wear a...whatever mask you put on that blocks the light and lets you go to sleep. >.> My theory is that if you dwell on something in your mind throughout the day, you'll probably have dreams about that thing later.

Have you tried listening to soft, peaceful ambient music when you go to bed?

Resident Evil 2 caused that on and off for about 3 months on me.
My solutions-
A)Pray-It's the feeling of talking to someone who cares, it makes me feel much better
B)Blair Demon Hunter-With something like that, positive yet heavy, it takes my mind off of everything and sets my mind on music.
C)Talk to whoever(if anyone) is in the room with you-When I can't sleep or feel scared, I talk to my bro.

Try listening to music while sleeping, that could help.
I had a dream topic along time ago, although I can't find it anymore.
