Cory Doctorow has been known on occasion to cause some undue alarm, and I have not exactly seen this story on any other sites yet. But if it turns out this is true ... say goodbye to the Internet, USA.

The last bullet--"Breaking DRM"--bothers me the most. As an independent game creator, what if I want to break my own DRM methods in order to slip a friend a copy (and I'm the legal property holder)...? I'm breaking a law? ...What? That's just bull****.
I read this, and after analyzing it a bit, it actually leads me to believe that there's a chance that it could lead to a lot of protests here in America--and likely, other countries. We're falling victim to the corporate undermining if this is a true story.

And by silly, I mean utterly horrifying.

If so, this is absolute bulls***. But then again, there will always be those that don't obey. I'm hoping that not everyone simply rolls over and obeys this. It sounds ridiculous.

I have a hard time believing that. It just sounds unreasonable. But if it's true, God help us. That would pretty much destroy the internet.

I'm personally more worried about my personal freedoms than the internet.
Like the Freedom of Speech? Getting your message out? Communicating with your fellow human beings? If we lose the internet, we take like a 20 year step back.
