British actor Bob Hoskins, famous for such flims as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mermaids, Hook, and Super Mario Bros, has died today at the age of 71, from complications of pneumonia.

Hoskins was a talented and legendary actor, and as gamers touched our hearts when he accepted the role of Mario in 1993. He will join Dennis Hopper as one of the film's deceased actors. He will be missed.

Very sad to hear this. Bob Hoskins had so many great roles in his time, Roger Rabbit being one of the most memorable for me. And despite the Mario Bros. movie being pretty terrible, I still loved him in it.

RIP Mr. Hoskins

I saw all 4 of those movies you mentioned in the movie theater, lol. I was just thinking about another movie he was in called "Shattered" because it had a plot twist similar to a movie I recently watched called "Body 19". At least he lived to pretty good age. So long, Mr. Hoskins.

I guess I feel 71 is kinda young, even though I know that's very close to the average age that people live, and that because its average, there will be ups and downs to that number.  RIP Bob.

Here's a direct quote from Mr. Hoskins about this.

"The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a fuckin' nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! Fuckin' nightmare. Fuckin' idiots."

I actually really liked Super Mario Bros. I have it on video.

Funny that he's known for his most quirky roles. He was better than that though, much like the late Alec Guinness.
