Well, I have an idea in mind on how to tackle the animation, and it will result in four different sizes of Link.
As you can see here, I took the largest Link and made walking animations for it. What I'll do is shrink down these animations for all the variants I've done, which will allow for everyone the size they need.
As usual, you don't fail to impress.
Am I the only one that thinks it looks like it's in M&L's style?

How exactly do I grab the palettes into my quest? Well, not how, but... where? Do I grab them into the sprite palettes (which doesn't make much sense, since most, if not all, of the colors are radically different than the defaults, and that doesn't seem smart to overwrite with such changes), or into the main palette?
Just wondering, in case I do it wrong. Thanks!
Ok, I'm just going to go with the Main palette. The topic was referring to it, though, as the sprite palette, so it was a bit confusing (even the topic title was named so). Sorry!

The hairs look a bit funky... The hair's movement is strange (going left right)... But the rest is good.
My hair is fairly long. When I am running, while stepping with my feet on the ground one after another, the hair will "move" left - right - left - right - ... . That, of course, is when running fairly fast. But I'd say it's totally okay to have it like that in the sprite, even if it's just to underline that fact, that the action Link is doing, is running (even if it's not too fast). Sometimes, art has to idealize reality to get the message across (actually, good art almost always does that).

Hmm. I do not really have time to do this, but I did anyways. I dunno what to think about it. How is it?

Not enough black outlines/contrast.
I was intentionally going to use more black, but than I decided to stick with the style Linkus made his NPCs. Dunno if I succeded, but actually, with the palettes provided, the outlines should be dark enough (for it's the darkest shade of the respective colour the most time).
Yet, I do agree that it's kinda low contrast, especially on that light blue background.

The post earlier about DoR link reminded me of this...well, anyway, I really would like to see this succeed--I think it would do wonders. Plus there are already so many unique NPCs posted in this thread that have tons of personality that it would be a shame not to make use of them.
I'd like to help. My spriting skills are pretty limited, the best I can do is scour the net and find stuff that I think looks interesting. I have a bunch of links to NPC graphics for Zelda games (lots of repeats and versions in these links)...if these are used I really think that the creators (other fan game developers) need to at least get a call out on our site.
I thought maybe these could act as models for some NPCs if anyone can work off of them:

Sexy link sprite, indeed. But I see an animation problem...
See how each hand goes forward with their foot? They should move forward in opposites. Meaning, right hand moves forward with left foot, and vice-versa. That's why it probably looks like a M&L sprite
Although, even with the hands animating like that, it's one hell of an amazing sprite. I envy your spriting skill, linkus.
EDIT: Oh lawdy. Didn't realize how old this was... >.>
