I was thinking of recruiting PureZC members who would want to play on some sort of virtual band - we need a guitarist, a bass player, a drummer, a singer and anyone else who wants to play. I was thinking you could use either a microphone to record, or, (for the bassist/guitarist) a lead with a big output on one end, and a small output on the other (I use this sort of lead to play my iPod on my speakers).
So, anyone think this is a good idea?

It sounds like a good idea.
Unfortunately
1) I'm the first person who's said owt and
2) My guitar strings are all detuned because they're old and likely to snap at any second, and I haven't practiced for, like, months.
Maybe an ArcadeFire-type arrangement, where there's like a dozen people playing loads of instruments.

of course, there is the MOP way.
Take MIDI, turn it to MP3, layer the singers over the instrument track, reconvert it to MP3 and viola(bad pun )!

If I had a way to record my drums I would totally do it. But I don't so .

All I know how to do is play the piano and compose music on the piano.
I also have some knowledge in creating music in midi using Anvil Studio and Noteworthy midi composer. Guess I could be of some help...Be warned that my music comes through the devinity...I'm not even allowed to take credit for my own music for God is the one who hath created and allowed it to pour through my soul with great fluidity.

I knew what this was immediatley before I opened the topic!!
Maybe, but I have no way of recording myself play the piano, so sorry, I'm out.
Also, my guitar skills are the worst you've ever seen, and I'd like to sing, but I have no way of recording it, and I'm bad at singing anyway. Sorry.

never mind. I'm busy with my band again, and we are too busy playing songs. I had another practice session again today, and boy, was it fantastic. I swear, I could have been dreaming. It was the best one I've done with the guys yet.

Im glad you had fun with the session, man. And this sounds like a great idea. Clever and novel, at the least.
The only downfall I see would be the different quality from different members according to their recording method. The different qualities can really be an impediment when it comes to layering the tracks. Otherwise, it'd be great. Need a vocalist?? LOL Seriously, IF you ever do get back around to trying it, PM me with the details. Im in.

This might be a pretty hard project to do. But it's worth a shot.
I'm a bass player. My equipment is a Gibson Thunderbird. I don't have any equipment to put it through my PC, however. And the software for that alone would be outragiously high (and I'm a broke bastard who needs other things right now).
Also, I can do Death Metal vocals, like George Fisher of Cannibal Corpse or Nathan Explosion of Dethklok. It comes naturally, and all I need to really do is keep my throat moist enough for me to do it.

LMAO!
... viola...
Good idea, but I can't play any instruments... so I'm out... unless you need a trianglist.

but apoetalone but it well:
