I'm gonna have to second Gurren Lagann, both of them. And I'd also like to add Death Note's first opening. The song was good (and from what I've seen of the translated lyrics, very symbolic), and I love all the symbolism it has going on. The second opening though... ugh, why they changed it half way through's beyond me, but the second opening's pretty horrible.

Well, I guess it depends on what you factor into the opening. Just animation? Music? Meaning? All three? Well, I can't really say I can pick a favorite. But I can list a few really good ones! I know I'll miss some, but oh well.

The music combined with the visuals was really good. Normally I only watch an opening once and then skip it for the rest of the season, but this one I always watched.

This is just a fantastic anime in general, and I've yet to find anything that really compares. Also, for once, the dub is far superior to the sub. Probably more due to the fact that it takes place in America during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
