I think I may have missed my chance for the hookshot.  I have the key for sanctuary but I don't have the hookshot to make it over there.  I am wondering if I missed the hookshot somewhere earlier and it is now out of reach.  I really want to continue this quest, it's fun and different, but I may have to hang it up if I can't get that hookshot ...... Is it too late?????

No, it's not too late. The hookshot's the item you get in the next level. All you need to do there right now is walk up the island, into the Sanctuary, and grab the money in the second room (and maybe find a hidden heart half outside). Do keep those hookshot targets on Sanctuary Isle in mind though; you can come back later with the hookshot to get a heart half and (if you found the key in Venezia) fight a pretty tough bonus boss that'll give you a pretty strong weapon. There's also a hookshot target you might have seen earlier in the game that, if you backtrack too, will net you a very nice bonus item as well.

It's been a really long time, but I finally am at it again.

 

Hardly any progress, simply because I lost a lot of my saved content. But I managed to catch up to where i was too, and put in more time on the part where i got stuck (which i am still stuck).
